Plane Games

Doods.

Anyone remember Crimson Skies? Of course you do, it was fken brilliant.
Know of any other games along the same lines? I hope so.

I was sitting at my machine last night and thinking to myself 'Im missing something'.

I have the latest and greatest FPS, RTS and RPG games at my disposal and they are fantastic. But theres a gaping maw in my gaming life. The only thing that can fill the void is the old school experience.

Im talking about Flight Sims, Lemmings Style games, and the golden platformers.
First on my list is Flight sims, or more rather accurately 'plane games'. I say plane games, as i dont want to actually play a Simulator game. Why? Caus i cant remember all four thousand key binds for every intricate function of my fighter jet. I just want to set max throttle and burn a path through the sky.

Apart from Crimson Skies however, i cant think of any games that meet the criteria, thats where you guys come in.

Lets build a nice little list of 'plane games' as well as some of the addictive other formats i mentioned earlier =)

There is one new one out Lenko, scratching my head trying to think of the name but the reviewers said it was finally another good flight sim where the missions and storyline are given more work than the terrain graphics.

I think they likened it to Crimson Skies 06 :)

If I can find the game/review ill post it up.

i wonder if Epic can be scaled to run on modern machines. That was an excellent fly round and shoot piss outa everything game

I hear Sturmivok II is good, but that is more of a Simulator?

Milenko, build up a Pentium 1/Penitum Pro 200, 32 meg RAM and a decent video card with 4Mb or more RAM and get Topgun: Fire at will. Most awesome combat flight sim game I have ever played.

IL 2 Sturmovik rocked, that damage model was too cool to watch - and honestly, when you could get em, the planes in BF1942 were brilliant :)

I recommend Comanche 4 by Novalogic. I spent Au"3 and imported it from the US. Arcade, shoot em all kill em all type... On a lan, you can cooperate and gang bang the opposition. Serious fun.

OMG crimson skies on SNES was the best (I think it was called that). Also, maddest old school flight sim ever is Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. Coolest flight sim evar!

Ah Pilot wings that was a damn good game, not exactly a realistic flight sim but kept me hooked back in the day.

If you're interested Lock on gold has been released - couple of new planes, high res textures and new missions for what is in my opinion the best modern fighter sim since Jane's USAF.

If anyone is interested in running some 2v2 or 3v3 dogfights in lock on or something similar over hamachi or any vpn that would be sweet???

best part about crimson skis was multiplayer I remember many a 4-6person tearing around shoting the crap out of each other in that game.
