So, Did anyone go? What did you think of it?

Me personally, I think it was lame. It's been getting progressively worse each year imo. The Fireworks display was lame and had no finisher.

I went there with $200 intending to spend it on Miscellaneous Useless junk that I like, and only ended up spending $50. There seems to be SFA stores.

yeah i didnt find anything i liked in commercial hall or the foskey, the only show bag i was interested in was the fiz and sherbet one and the sour one.
i still had a great time tho, but im still recovering from the 10hrs I was there yesterday.
yellow brick road ftw!

Yes even my 16yo daughter thought it was pretty bad compared to what it used to be
and 10 bucks for a lame ride?
what a big rip off
not as much to see or do or eat as there used to be
one stall at least was selling iced coffee 600ml for 3.50 what a rip off
i liked yellow brick road bag at least u got something to eat and drink

I haven't been to a Darwin Show since I was about 8.
Even then I thought it was lame :p

Post 5

other than the dodgem (?) cars and the car stands, have not really found it worth going at all, been like 2 or 3 times in my life - rather spend the money on my pc or something for my van :D

actually i lied the other really good thing about the show is - the deep fried battered sausage on a stick goodness FTW

Post 6

Haven't been for 5-6 years. The fireworks were ok but I can confirm there was no finisher. Everybody sitting there at the oval just thought was that it? and after a small pause gave a lame applause. So yeah weak...

Did some dogem cars and Music Trip. Didn't spend any money as there was nothing to buy. Seemed quite lame and will not be back for another 5-6 years.

Those are $4 now. That's right, they use to sell them at the tuckshop for $2.

I didn't like it at all, last year wasn't any better imho but really, if you had a WHOLE year to plan for this, then spend 365 days sorting out what is going to be on show instead of expecting the same things to show up year after year after year.

I walked away from the show down "00, with a Darrel Lea showbag, and no sense of wanting to go back next year. I'm planning to go to Brisbane's show instead. Why? Well click on the link below to see.

Yes ekka is so much better than darwin show but still no where near as good as it was when i was a kid

Post 9

Woah. If the ekka is better than the Darwin show I can only imagine what it's like, cause the ekka is pretty terrible. But then again over-priced gross food, crappy rides, rigged sideshow games and funny looking carnies have never been my thing.

Post 10

I went to the Ekka when I was in Bris, it was okay, but nothing stand out fantasic.

I went to the sydney show last year and then the darwin show last year

My god sydney show bent over the darwn show 6 times over

but even the sydney show was pretty lame............

bah money you spend you might aswell save up for a hooker and a hotel room "For those of yous without a girl" but for us unlucky guys "save money up for a hotel room plus a shitload more for partying by end of the night you might aswell of got a hooker LOL.

I agree, it has been getting worse, less crap each year. LEss rides even. They all go to brissy, but darwins a waste of time to them.

I took $220. Left with "50. Poor effort.

Darwin show ftl.

Whys that? Because the Sydney show probably gets 2million people through its gates and we get 100,000?

Its Darwin in general .. everything is second rate.

Post 14

The only good show we really get in Sydney is the easter show.

But then, I haven't been to that in like 10 years or something. I hear it's better than it used to be though, more events, more "show", $50 show-bags with a bag of crisps and a can of soda inside, that kinda stuff.

well i enjoyed my time at the show, been my second year working at the show and i made 350 bucks for the three days sitting in an air con caravan with my feet up helping myself to a nearby loaded bar fridge and being the DJ-MC for one of the dodgem car rides, but i agree the whole show is dodgy, the whole dodgem car sound system is played through a ratty disc-man which is hooked up to everything lmao.

Post 17

The dude running the sound for the Octopus ride ran it out of an ipod connected to a laptop....

Lol, why am I not surprised? I went with my sister who spent over $400 in the two days she was there :O She went on that new "5 one 5 times and every other ride at least 3 times, and managed to fill the dining room table with showbags and fairy floss. I spent $60 - on 4 new shirts. Hey, you can't buy em anywhere else in darwin!
