I have a quick question.

It has the following.
Drink driving penalties:
Drive with BAC over 0.0
(Traffic Act section 19(7) and 19(8))
"00
$200
Drive with BAC over 0.05
"00
$200
SO, my question. If you get pulled over at the breath testing station and you blow .03 (under the .05) do you still get a $200 fine??
over 0.0 probably refers to P platers.
Yeah that's what I first thought.. but the website isn't clear.. well it isn't clear to me.. :-(

If you are not a P plater or over 25 you can drive with any reading under .05
They didn't change the limits the just uped the fines.
Just on this one, what does
"Failure to obey yellow light" mean? I thought it means slow down cause red light is coming up next.

Not completely true, After you have done your year on P's you still need to do 2 years off them with a zero BAC. After that then you can blow anything under 0.05.

Amber light is there to give you ample time to stop for red; my brother got done in NSW for proceeding through an amber light. Silly but true.
I think its shit because how are the cops to judge whether you had enough time to stop or not. Obviously unless it is extremely obvious. But i've seen people been pulled over going through the amber lights when there was no way in hell they could stop.
thats true i've had to run a few amber lights lately
A. I have wankers on my arese trying to get me to do over the speed limit and i dont have enough space to stop because i may cause an accident.
B. Cant be stuffed stopping
C. try doing 110 and stopping when theres an amber light 2 metres in front of you LOL might aswell speed up and pray you beat it lol because theres no hells chance you'll stop before the line lol.
D. I noticed a dickhead not stopping at the flashing red light train crossing on the back way to palmerston NOW THATS CRAZY. (GOT TRAIN)

try doing the speed limit then. i severely doubt there's any stretch of road that has both a 110kmh speed limit, and traffic lights.

except all the 100km/h trafic light have those advance warning lights. So let me guess what actually happened. Your saw the warning lights go off an figure you could beat the lights but lost.

Yep, 60km an hour in a 60 zone and light goes orange literally 5m in front of me, I went straight through it as it was impossible to stop and I got pulled over and fined for it. Same cop also tried to accuse me of doing burnouts in the car after looking at the back wheels...of my parents FWD car I was borrowing. GG Morons.
alternately, you have the people who nearly ran a yellow light, saw a cop car behind them, panicked, braked, and got a cop car up the arse :P

There was and possibly still(this is a maybe atm) is a camera in there it just doesnt currently work.
Due to the design of the box NOT being suited to the heat and humidity of darwin and things like melting of the film and other electrical parts internally it hasnt worked for a long time now.
But it has been mentioned that occasionally film was put in it ( but that could just be a urban myth:D )
The red light cameras have never worked properly from day dot. Now most of the boxes have cameras in them that are definately non-functional. We will be getting replacement units put into the boxes possibly some time this year. In the meantime if the lights change, stop. There is far too much running of lights up here, even as far as entering the intersection after 2-2.5 secs of yellow. It is stupid.
i reckon i got my first speeding fine today.
I onestly dont think i deserved it because its not like i was really trying to do over the speed limit i wanted to just over take so i didnt have to sit behind slower drivers.
*hits head* makes me angry that people who do over the speed limit trying to over take slower people get done, but people doing 10 under the speed limit wont get fined your on a main road do the speed limit because your congesting traffic.

unfortunately 10 below isnt illegal.. the term is speed limit not speed requirement :( I'm with you though, re: last week's comic ... people doing under the limit are endangering lives almost as much as those doing over - aggravating other drivers, plus there are times you'll come around corners on some roads doing 100 in a 100 zone and have to hit the skids cos some old bugger in a toyota crown is doing 50... thank god for FPS reflexes =)
If someone is doing 10 under the limit, then you can quite comfortably overtake them by doing the speed limit (ie, 10k's more than them).
