there is some protesters in the city about the speed limits
My opinion is that an open limit should apply to Victoria, Arhnem and Stuart Highways. It always will be.
I also reserve the opinion that the efforts of the current government do not however, address the other issues stongly enough.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm I right in thinking that people between .05 and .08 won't lose their licence?
I think it's too soft in any case. There needs to be really strict rules on driving with alcohol in the system.
It's a classic case of too much where it's not needed, and too little where it is.
Oh god here come the horse whippers...........Again............
I'll keep whipping the horse until it's dead (it's still breathing!).

People complain when they are unhappy about things.
If they banned alcohol(prohibition) because it caused car accidents, people would be here whipping as hard as they could, proving themselves total hypocrites. Just because it's acceptable to some doesn't mean others have to sit down and take it.
Besides how many deaths this year have been caused by speeding? How many deaths this year could an alcohol ban save I wonder?
im only for changing the hwy speeds back to what they are.
i agree fines need to increase ect but leave hwy speeds alone it wont fix any problems.
because the new laws havent help those people who have died on the hwy's already have they ?
Claire Martin is a joke
Death is inevitable. It just depends on the method and the time its implemented.
I agree that some of the reasons for the changes don't make sense but I know the changes were implemented and enforced by federal government and not local.
Our government were basically provided an option, change the laws and bring your cowboy county into line with the rest of the country or well cut off your money. Regardless if Carney and her groupies get into government or not, she will ot be allowed to change it, modify it, convert it or scrap it.
It aint the NT's call.
So,
Slow down, don't drink, don't speed or do what I am doing, leaving................

Care to back that up? If that's true, it's political dynamite. It would divide the CLP, weaken Dave Tollner's re-election changes (thus improving the ALP's chances nationally), and take the heat off Clare et al.
Which is why it strikes me as untrue. Give any politician a way to pass blame and they'll trample you to get at it. But nothing has been said: not a peep.

NT was being fined by the some competition authority or something because they have to bring their road laws into line with the rest of the country if I remember correctly

I don't think that's right at all.
I'm with Presidente... Politicians will shift blame wherever possible. That tart in the office now, has pretty much taken full credit for the changes. I'm impressed that she's finally found something she's passionate about, it's a shame she couldn't have been more passionate for the last few years she's been in the head chair.
I'm almost certain that the CLP will fall back on that promise and instead compromise (perhaps no demerit points?), but the truth be told, I'd rather demerit points... In fact, I have no real problem with demerit points if the system works properly. It's just the open limit, and the poorly thought out structure of the new fines concept they're using.
Quote from Aegis;298302:

Yes, but not from political pressure from the federal government (at least nothing was said). Certain groups who insist the removal of the limit are still sanctioning the government to remove the 130 and bring it down to 100kph (not 110, 100... because our roads are unsafe apparently). My personal oppinion on these people not withstanding, the Federal government has never (publically) threatened the Local government to remove the derestricted zones... But they have pressured us, never enforced it though. The only time any of our laws have been over riden in recent history is the law on nuclear waste storage.
google federal goverment forcing nt speed limits - should find a transcript of an ABC radio interview where the federal govt was pointed out as being the big fondler of donkey dong in this instance
i've driven on alot of roads around australia and so far NT roads have been the best quality roads i've been on.
100 is far to slow, obviously these people have never done an 18 hour drive, the highways should be open speed or atleast 160 as a guideline. if your doing over 140 - 160 your ****ing stupid.
Werent the first 4 road deaths of this year, in prior open zones, caused by driver fatigue and Tourists in 4x4's?

All I can find is this from Delia Lawrie:
Quote from Delia Lawrie:
We've been put on notice several times by the Federal Government that they're unhappy with our current road conditions in terms of speed limits, they're unhappy that it makes it more difficult for conformity across Australia and you know consistent Territory Governments have resisted the pressure from the Federal Government.
http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/nt/content/2006/s1736723.htm
That's it, apparently. I can't find anything else other than this remark on the ALP Press Bureau^W^W^W ABC website.
Still, I stand sort of corrected, but this is the first and only time I've heard this trotted out. And I stand by my observation that if it were serious - actual hard threats to deny funding - Martin and Lawrie would have a 24-hour tag team and circus parade on the matter.
dont like it leave.
Or better yet, complain to no end about it. hahaha.

The National Competition Council was going to fine the NT government if they didn't bring their road laws into step with the rest of the country. The reason I know this is my old man is a councillor for the NCC.
Quote from uber tard;298316:

1. The NCC is an quasi-independent body anyhow.
2. According to the Treasury website, the NCC's say on road laws only extends to vehicles of 4.5t GVM and over: http://www.treasury.gov.au/documents/176/HTML/docshell.asp?URL=coag.asp
Actually, I was wrong on 2. I'll see what the NCC says.
The closest thing I can find on the NCC website is a 2005 report. Doesn't mention road laws at all.
http://www.ncc.gov.au/document.asp?documentID=3870
dude, i'm not trying to debate this in any way, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to argue about... I'm simply saying what my old man, who is a councillor on the ncc, told me. kk?
Just remember that in order to get finance from federal government the NT was required to adopt and implement strategic road laws in order to follow the national standard.
An example was when the NT refused initially to implement the .05 legislation and hence the Federal government withheld funds to the NT. Eventually it was adopted however the NT government modify legislation to ensure a fine only was issued from .05 to .079 and not a licence disqualification as in other states. The NT of course was docked a few bucks for this but thats the way it goes.
The same pressure has been applied in relation to speed limits. In order to receive further federal funding, the NT is again required to adopt and conform to standards.
Unfortunately the Martin government was the ones in power at the time and had to wear the whipping for embracing the change.
Next will be demerit points etc etc etc. It has nothing to do who is in power at the time. It is at a higher level and will remain so until the whole of Australia is on a national level.
And if you think with a change in government is going to be in a position to change the laws back to what it was before, you're dreaming.
Does anyone know the reason that TIO was looking at being sold several months ago?
Have a guess.
If you said it was because MACCA was broke and was killing it, your right. Why is it broke because the TIO was sued by survivors of serious road accidents and had to pay millions of dollars. One case in particular cost 12 million. Who paid for that. YOU, your taxes and rego. Thats why rego will go up again soon. Watch and see.............
I'm not saying it doesn't seem plausible, I'm just saying: why isn't the ALP trying to pass the blame on to the feds?
Not only is it plausible it is also completely true. I was told by a good source, 5-6 months before there was even talk of limits and demerit points, that the Fed Gov was forcing us to adopt demerit points and speed limits. Was told that it would probably be 130kph also. Everything I was told months before it all started has been correct.
Oh and Sponge typically an insurance company loses less than 10% on a claim because of the way there risks are reinsured. So a 12 mil payout would lose TIO less than 1.2 mil. There never is and never will be a valid financial reason to sell off TIO.

A "good source"?
Like I say, none of this should be secret. It's a really easy way to get out of the blame. The Feds get blamed for everything else, why not this? Is it because closer investigation would reveal otherwise? Or have the DCM hacks all been taking long lunches?
If you think your claim is valid, I invite you to take it to either the NT News (who would have the contacts to confirm it) or to the ABC (who would run with it anyhow).
Quote from El Presidente;298377:

Completely agree. Just seems unlikely that it was due to federal pressure even this time.
As for since the beginning, it's been occuring for years. The latest push started back in what, 2004 with that southern dickhead deciding to but in on our affairs. Then there was the time before that, and the time before that.
Quote from El Presidente;298377:

Would they try to pass the blame onto the Feds?
There are alot of people in favour of the speed limits.
The facts are it was a federal push and obviously they feel that they can garner more public support by saying oh look what we did for your safety we love you, as opposed to oh look we caved into outside pressure, were soft and useless. If they thought that they could garner more votes by telling the truth then they surely would have.
Just a couple of reasons why they may not try to pass the blame.
So much for breaking down the powers between the states and federal to make laws that suit the region.
We are not a state.
We are at the mercy of the federal government as repeal of the euthanasia bill showed very clearly.
However we were granted the Self-Government act so that we would function as a state essentially other than matters like aboriginal land, crown land and probably a few other small tidbits. Which are all reasonable to be controlled at a federal level.
Although not being a state, there are still loopholes of which it is convention not to use where they can interfere with the self governance. Such as they did with Euthanasia.
However with the road law changes, they've done it more as a blackmail tactic which makes it somewhat distasteful also.
Quote from Evil @ngel;298465:

BINGO!!!
Spot on.
Although we are self governed, Until the NT becomes a state we wont have full control over major issues period.
And we wont become a state until all the cowboy laws are changed to fit into the rest of Australia period.
I thought it was ' voted in by the people, for the people' and that they might actually listen to what we have to say.......
But thats probably my bad for actually thinking that actually may ever happen

So what your saying is we should all push for statehood and then get our 'all ears pollies' to repeal the hell out of a crap load of stupid federal bs that has been imposed on us?!??!
Be a damn good start I reckon. Everytime we get a representative to nominate the NT to statehood we always for some reason get knocked back the powers to be.

1. Small? SMALL? :)
2. Crown Land? You may be thinking of Kakadu National Park and Uranium mining, which along with the applies-to-the-NT-only Aboriginal Land Rights Act form the three big topics of disagreement.
Quote:

It's not a loophole at all. The Northern Territory is a Commonwealth Territory under our Constitution. In various cases the High Court has said that this means that the people and government of the NT have the same relationship with Canberra as the colonies did with London. We are utterly at their mercy. The Commonwealth Parliament can at any time do whatever it pleases to the NT.
Quote:

I'm still not seeing anyone supplying hard evidence. So far it's just hearsay.
Quote from SpongeBobSquarePants;298494:

Why?
1. The Aboriginal Land Rights Act. The elephant in the room.
2. The number of senators and members is contentious.
3. Related to 2, the major parties don't want the NT to become another Tasmania: home to troublesome minor parties who could snag the balance of power.
4. It's a largely symbolic measure which will not really sway votes ...
5. ... but it will still cost a lot of money to carry out.
Quote from El Presidente;298599:

From their posts I would say Sponge and Lataf, aswell as almost all the cops and firies I have spoken to. My boss, the group of people trying to get the limits lowered to 110 - if they worked for the ALP they would have stopped causing a ruckus- and 2 of the 9 guys i work with.
Thats at least 30-40 people.
I really think the fatigue argument is crap. Most the cars on the road do less then 130 anyway even before the limit change and there were no fatigue deaths last year :/
I also feel the fatigue arguement is rubbish, and it's a shame they're using that. It's weak, and not a real risk except for the one or two people who actually have deadlines.
But then, just one death is said to be too many.
As for fatigue, it's been one of the greatest killers on outback roads, behind Alcohol consumption I believe (though I say that based on advertisements I've seen here and interstate). Fatigue though, isn't necessarily brought on long driving (though it's generally increased by it).
I've always said, my reasons for wanting an open limit (the primary reason...) is to be able to drive safely at 180kph (my personal top limit) which I only would carry out on certain stretches of the road. My car, my tyres are rated for that sort of driving, and from my personal experience, the NT has some of the best outback roads in Australia.
Quote from SperO;298610:

ahh so the fatigue argument is crap. Well after spending 9 years in the area which directly investigates these collisions, and having been directly involved in at least 30 fatals where fatigue was an issue, I'm surprised to know that all my work was wrong and the decisions handed down by the state coroners were incorrect.
Perhaps I should ask them to call you so you can enlighten them on their errors.
I wish I had the info youre getting because it is absolutely priceless.
Awesome assumption indeed.
Fatigue, Alcohol and Seatbelts and of course being an absolute idiot does also help
well actually sponge im saying using the fatigue as an argument for the speed limits to be unlimited is crap.
I mean people were driving under 130km in previous years anyway. The speed limit is not the problem it's people driving tired that's the problem.
Road trains who are the ones with the deadlines never went over 110 anyway.
I'm not saying fatigue isn't an issue just that I don't think it should be used as argument towards bringing back unlimited speed signs.
In the last 9 years the speed limits were unlimited - so whether its 130km or not stupid people are still going to die from fatigue related accidents.
Edit - I will also add that I drove from Darwin to Adelaide and back a couple of years ago doing 110km/h. I stopped when I was tired and even though the speeds were unlimited they didn't effect me at all.
Okay I agree that fatigue should never have been used as an excuse for the speed limit change. There was however several fatal and serious collisions last year that were fatigue related however regardless of the speed, these collisions would more than likely still occurred.
I just believe that the reasons given out to the public re the reasons behind reducing the speeds on open roads are flawed and agree with alot of people about these.
However the actual reducing of the speeds was a viable reason done primarily with pressure from outside the NT jurisdiction. The NT government is not too blame and I'm afraid that unfortunately the current government is expected to take the brunt for it. It would have done them a world of good if the spin doctors or those responsible for supplying the facts had actually got it right and been a little more truthful.
But you show me an honest straight talking down the line government that works within the lines of the yellow brick road and Ill let you ride my unicorns.

Tasmania Police with some luck in October otherwise Ill be driving a school bus in Bernie.

Regardless Im pretty well gone for sure
I was shocked when those ads were on tv about our road toll, that was untill i did some research of my own, this is what i found;
FACT: "NT road crash death rate over the four years is 39 deaths per 100,000 Indigenous persons and 12 deaths per 100,000 non-Indigenous".
-- Between 1999 and 2002 indigenous Australians made up 43 per cent of all road fatalities in the Northern Territory, yet they constitute just 29 per cent of the population.
-- 74 per cent of occupants and pedestrians were legally drunk (over 0.05)
-- 70 per cent were either non-licensed drivers, or in a vehicle being driven by a non-licensed driver.
-- Failure to wear a seatbelt was a factor in 60 per cent of vehicle occupant deaths
-- Almost half of all fatalities were pedestrians
-- Two-thirds of the fatal crashes were in urban areas.
FACT: "NT has the highest incidence of unlicensed drivers in the world. During the last few years under the current Police Commissioners rule we have seen a big increase in deaths of Territorians on roads that already have speed limits. This is particularly evident in Darwin"
PROPAGANDA: "One person is killed and nine seriously injured on territory roads every week"
The Indigenous are killed from single vehicle roll overs in the middle of the scrub, sleeping on roadways & overloading with passengers. It doesnt matter how somebody dies on the road, in a vehicle or not, it still counts.
Some tourists also are a problem with overseas tourists driving on the wrong side of the road, in cars they arnt familiar with, but thats only a small number.
Now the top end has a "traffic branch" of course the numbers will look better after this revamp, & i bet the next road toll released will only include urban statistics, even so, our toll now with the new laws reflect how unjust they are.
Please don't punish Territorians like me for this, I've invested thousands on rider training, gear & the bike to enjoy MY territory, its a vast land that i wont be bothered to travel & see anymore as it will be too uncomfortable without enough wind to hold my weight up from the handlebars at 130k.
Surely we can devise a smarter attack that addresses the real issues instead of creating a culture of police hating speedo watchers.
Vote CLP, & we will have our holy grail back. Im part of keepntlimitfree.org & I have spoken to Jodeen personally & she assured our organisation that she will repeal this draconian law when elected.

I liked having the ability to drive my car at a speed i felt comfortable at. That has been taken away from me......But i live in hope.
I guess another question is if the entire country can only legally do 110=130 max why the frack do all the cars made in teh last 20 yrs have the abilty to do soooooo much more - or is this a consipiracy thing where if theres no one speeding theres no need for a traffic branch, hence lack or revenue etc etc etc??
yes, it's all one giant conspiracy and has nothing to do with safety and/or common sense.
Bad Crispy, just because a car can do over 130 doesn't make it right.
The reality is that cars are built for a purpose. Sure, the run of the mill Camry can do 200... But for the sake of arguement, how long will it hold that?
There are tollerances that cars are manufacturered to.
Just because I can pick up a knife and swing it at someone, doesn't mean it was designed to do that.
Kurt is just a rev-head at heart. We all have our weaknesses ;)
Quote from Bad Crispy;298689:

far more likely, the manufacturers, whose only real interest in performance parts is to further their F1, or rally pursuit for domination of the circuit, develop and then release their new toys into their standard manufacturing line.
meanwhile, consumers, who may not even follow the sport, still know of car manufacturers for their successes and participation in said races, and then make their purchases of automobiles accordingly.
you don't buy a car you know has shit parts, costs alot to maintain, and gives you crap performance unless you're desperate for wheels. therefore, you'll usually buy the best bang for your buck. the 'bang' is good, because the racing industry will forever be striving to shave another half-second off their competitors.
i.e. the car being fast has nothing to do with the government, so really, the speed limits have been the same since day one because of the impact of speeding, not because the cars can safely handle speed.
Why not put speed limiters in all cars just like they do with road trains and buses?
Because then people such as myself who actually use a car on a race track will complain. I don't like already hitting my 180kph limiter at the middle of the straight at Hidden valley. Very annoying.
Quote from doyen;298711:

dont really agree to that statement, you gonna tell me that teh knife first seen back in (generalisation) teh stone age was invented to spread butter on bread to be had with a nice roasted mammoth??;)
my origional question was more of a sarcastic rhetorical tone.
Unlike you ive never had the chance to go out and do a few laps of Hidden Valley in any car, as i cant afford what i would like to use. But i used to be able to go down the highway at a speed i felt comfortable at. That right/ privilege has been removed and like you and everyone else on this forum i was speaking my mind and putting in my 2.5cents and half a tic-tac's worth.
After working on traffic for the last few months and spending a large amount of my time either on the road or the side of it fixing traffic lights, the amount of retards im seeing up here on the roads is appalling. Speeding no knowledge of WTF they are meant to be doing, indicators either dont work?, dont need to be used or are an optional extra for changing lanes or turning( a pet hate - how F*****G hard is it to use them!!!!!)
The traffic branch and pollies needed to concentrate on Suburbia ( From Noonamah into the heart of darwin) not in the other direction.
People dont know how to NOT RUN or NOT DRIVE THROUGH F*****G RED LIGHTS. ie i turn of a traffic site for what ever reason( and this happens a lot specially during the wet season), and when i turn it back on ol-mate decides that even though he has a red light hes waited too long ( all 10 fn seconds worth) and takes right of way and drives on through even though other groups of traffic actually have green lights. And the other day i watched a big fcukoff cleanaway truck do this out of amy johnson and then the 5 Lemmings behind him follow suit  - all through a red light for them and green light inbound on stuart highway - accident waiting to happen...
If the traffic lights are out most people seem to TAKE right of way not give it or slow down. Idiots skidding up the line cause the werent looking at whats in front of them and are panicking trying not to crash is present at almost every site ive attended that is out ( no power), flashing ( amber lights only) and /or even with police doing traffic control.
Its people of all ages and all cultures and ethnicity. And most of speeding ive seen is done in Local 80 or less speed restricted areas. ie the other day at Lee point / Parer drive some idiot in an old white sylvia would have been doing around or over 100 as he passed me and the intersection and thats in both directions.
Way past my bed time........may finish this rant later

The Public are Sheep, they will follow with what they think the general direction is going in. We Need to show the martin administration (as im sure they read the paper) that the "informed" public has decided what they want from their government & im sure poll caring political party would be sure to take notice of what the voting public thinks!
If we take a stand now, our standards can only get better! There is a smarter way to everything, we need to evolve from our draconian past & think of a new direction instead of relying on the old way of governments taxing their citizens into submision.
Education, Information & Awareness is what the government needs to empower its citizens with to have self sustained & a viable existence.
We will have our Open Highways back.
im sure most people want the no speed limits back but what can we do?

I did buy the bike to explore NT, i only ever got to go 4a blat to pine creek and back a couple 'o' times, just to get a feel for the bike, then, BAM, 130k. It was too late by the time i did all that rider training, the open limits were almost gone after a month or so, & now im stuck to leaning on the handlebars. Too uncomfortable. No thanks.
PS. I also have a BMW E46 which commands the road, but once again, i never took advantage of the "express" highway, the BMW is still nice, but the bike is now a waste of time :(

half a bike? im sure its all there!
hey piggy don't be so quick to flame someone who is passionate about something. I too am an enthusiast who enjoys trips down the highway at ridiculous speeds, its not something for everyone but hey just cause you don't enjoy it doesn't mean you should poop on him for it.
If you've ever experienced the feeling of going that fast you haven't lived. Trust me ive been over 300kph on a bike, (which a GSX-R 600 probably cant manage :P ) and its an awesome feeling watching the world beside you melt.
Oh and if anyone else here is a supporter of the cause pop into cold rock ice cream shop and sign the petition that keep NT limit free has popped in there for all of us to sign... (sorry if this has been mentioned before in here but i haven't read the entire thread)

Half a litre is half a bike :D :D :D

The typical view of my bike from a 600
Cryo means your engine is too small :P 1 litre plus for teh win :D
my advice: sell the bike and use the cash to mod the BMW and come play at the track... NAMSC has regular club meetings for fun by all users of the road, and TERRA does the same for the 2 wheelers. ting it to the track seems to be the only way these days, hence me selling my quick streeter and buying a track car :D

lol, yer. shuda gone the big bore straight up.

yeah, i also need a refund on all the fkn money ive invested in going over 130k. "0,000 on the bike, "100 on rider training, $600 helmet, $350 riding jacket, $250 riding pants, "50 gloves. Then theres the bike insurance, health cover & not to forget the $600 per year rego!!! All for what? Less than 6 months worth of riding which included maybe 5 trips down the stuart! !AARRGGHH!
I think you'll get more value from the helmet, jacket, pants and gloves if you come off at less than 130km/h. Come off going much faster than that and you'll be lucky to feel the first bounce.

The thing is, i would have bought an entirely different type of bike, probably a cruiser, but now the sportsbike has lost a lot of value for resale, Yamaha City has only sold 1 bike this year, compared to a dozen same time last year (they moving interstate because of this) & the helmet is a replica from SBK so would look ridiculous on a cruiser.
So im left with the gloves, pants & jacket, not much consolation.
Ill never regret the training, i think everybody should do something similar!
so how was i flaming or pooping ella? where did i say i dont enjoy speed? As for speed i have done 330 kmph thru tennant creek(yes its on record)which no-one here has done. And saying doing 300 and u havent lived is the words of another temporary aussie. Also i read the entire thread before i made any comments, maybe u should do the same, so you can be make an informed response, i was questioning gsxr 600 logic as per his post so after u read the whole thread get back to me :)
working with my old man on building a modern version of the old Kawasaki 750 turbo!!!
the frame is complete and painted with a kick ass swing arm, raised rear end, engined bored out again (forgot the size) tank and panels sprayed with traditional 750 turbo colors
just thought id say all this and then remember the sad truth of not being able to take it to 250+ down the highway LEGALLY :(
I almost cant believe the collusion between the Martin administration & the "independent" media! The AMA have passed a vote of "no confidence", all over how the Martin admin is covering up who is dying out there! yet i havn't seen or read a dam thing about it in the "news".
Wake up Editor at NT News, just because you are Clare Martins' cousin, doesn't make cover ups right! Id almost call it "conflict of interest". You must have a bum buddy at the TV station too!
Just like the road saftey task force, made up from 3 transport advisers 2 NT police officers 2 lawyers and 1 doctor who all work for, guess who,,,
I scream CONSPIRACY, but it falls on deaf ears of conformists!
And with all the flooded streets and rivers, those that do the stupid speeds would be dead.
I mean, I dont see the debate. Those that speed dont need the "unrestricted" sign to do it. Have a look in the streets of any given day. People doing stupid speeds down the roads. (bagot prime example)
All those that are preaching about unlimiting the speeds are falling on deaf ears to me, as from my job I see people dont need the unrestricted sign to "go fast"
However by all means go out on the highway, and kill yourself just dont kill someone else whilst your at it. Thats the skill right there.
2c
Before 130kph, most people on the highways were doing 100-110k anyway. Now they all doing 130. Maby 130 is better to hit water at?
See thats your misconception, you called them "unlimited", i called them "open" speed limits! //open limits doesnt mean unlimited throttle, it means open decision on what you, your vehicle & the roads (with or without water) can safely handle!
remember people in the NT you get fined for driving more then 15km/h below the speed limit
yay to stupidity!
Thats an very interesting point!
e.g. a driver driving his 1975, 3 speed kingswood would have to break that law every time they travel, as trying to get an old kingy to do 130k for long periods of time would make it boil over, crack a piston & warp the head (i know this from experience), in the middle of nowhere.
Would this driver therefore have to break the law every time they travel?
But thats the stupidity of politics isn't it! We have had enough of your credit claiming haggard face Clair Martin, it is time for you to go! Goodbye Clair!
Claire martin wont win the election but the speed limit will remain 130.

I spoke to Jodeen the first day of parliament ( i was impressed what a professional leader she is ) & she gave a firm commitment to Keep NT Limit Free that she will re"open" our highways when elected.
Although we will retain the traffic branch, default rural speed limits & the higher penalties as these will be the only sensible resolutions to continually reduce the road toll.
Unfortunately Claire will win the election, she has no capable competition.
And Carney would not put the limit back I dont believe that for a second, just political lies.

I do recall Claire giving the same thing about Darwin getting a big day out then when elected turned around and said it wasnt pheasble and we got but a shadow of it named Bass in the grass
Well, she started her campaign, it was with the "ill turn this (130), back to this (//) sign. Ive seen it & touched it on the first day of parliament, its really real!
ABC Talkback Radio Tommorow Thur 8th March, Taking calls between 8:30 & 9am, with the Clare Martin. Lamb for the slaughter ;)
Realistically, it doesn't matter what Jodine wants to do if she gets in, as the decision is not hers to make.
We are a Territory, not a state, and as has been stated before, it doesn't matter how passionate we Territorians are about this issue - ultimately money wins out, and there's a bucket load of Federal funding at stake that is going to speak louder than any voters.
But at least it will get her voted in....but don't hold your breath for the limits to be changed back.
Certainly nothing will happen if we do nothing!
The Fed gov told us to clean up the road toll, as far as i know we were not specifically told to loose the open limits!
Arnt we self governed, isn't that enough to do what we want? Maybe statehood would be a good thing, but i doubt it as im sure "we" would want to mirror southern states!
If funding is the big thing, then why has the road works crews been pulled out of "open" areas since long before x-mass even though the NT.gov.au has been sitting on 13.7 million worth of Federal road funding for quite some time now, years maybe! Since way before (130) i wonder why? lol not!
I bet the Clare Martin Propaganda Machine will say very soon, hey everybody, ive got 13.7 million for road funding! love me now ive changed your laws!
Fight the Good Fight. Keep NT Limit Free !

Depends on whether it's a tied or untied grant.
And on whether votes will change more easily for removing limits or buying voters some other way.
130k was introduced by NT Parliament, it can be be Repealed the same!
That 13.7 Million has been sitting for years. Fk knows we need it atm, seen Baggot Road after all that rain? Id hate to see our highways! Also I went for a ride to Bees Creek back a few weeks ago, like ive done for ages now, (except now in limited to 130k) & the shop keep there told me that the road crews (who provided her with a bulk mob of business) havn't been past since long before 130k.
I SCREAM CONSPIRACY & COLLUSION in the NT media. But it falls on the deaf ears of conformists!
This really is a small town!
Nigel, the "chief editor" of NT News is Martins cousin ffs, so how the hell do we get an "unbiased" view? CH9 is colluded too, i'm not exactly sure how, ill release how when i exactly know. The ABC is my ONLY reliable source of news now, as they are strictly regulated!
Prtint out & get the petitions signed with correct details, as when there is enough signatures, we can almost automatically write our own law!
Visit & post to www.keepntlimitfree.org & help fight the oncoming filth invasion!
Yawn...........personally Id like to see it drop another 30.

Two words: Don. Kennedy.
He's the General Manager at the NT News, and he does keep an eye out for serious shenanigans. It's impossible to remove all bias from any newsroom, but if there was a juicy story Don would ensure it got to print, with or with Nigel.
Well I think they need to sack the contractors who do the roads atm. Highway near the city was done last dry season and 1 good week of rain and it is covered with potholes.
leave the contractors alone. ffs they do what thy can with what they are gibven.
most roads are a reseal, meainting they lay new stone on top of hte stopene that is ther.e
for it to be persfect, thyu need to profuile the road, meaining dig ti up and then relay new roa.d
sober up Unseen ;)
