Know all of those ringtones being advertised that adults can't hear? It's not a complete scam, strangely enough.

At almost 23 I can still hear a 21.1kHz "mosquito" freqency. Apparently above 17kHz is the area only under 20's can hear, while most people should hear 14.1 fine. Kinda interesting. Would make a sucky ringtone anyway. :P

I can hear the 21.1 as well.

I can hear my cheep speakers not playing those frequencies correctly. Although I know I can hear the full range on our 16-20k test CDs.

I could hear up to 21.1 which I thought was pretty loud... considering the last one had no sound im sure i could of gone higher :p

21.1kHz was fine.

Something wrong there, we were testing this at work the other day with a proper tone generator and good speakers, and I couldn't hear above 18k.

I can hear "21.1k" quite clearly, so either it's bullshit, or that frequency doesn't get processed properly.

Mate just tried and couldn't hear above 14. Elle can't hear past 18... so even if its not quite accurate, it's not completely busted. I can barely hear 21.1, for the record.

I hope its because i have a high quality sound card, but I can't hear past the 17.7k one

yeah I know there are people who can't hear the tones, my boss can't hear above 12k.

Fairly sure the problem will be with my sound card/speakers, I know they aren't ultimate quality so no surprises there, the sounds stop being "sharp" at about 17k and start sounding a bit flat, i'd say thats where the frequency response just cbf anymore.

sounds are twice as loud as before, and 50 times more obviously distorted from whatever kind of horrific sampling process is going on.

18.8k sounds like a dalek laser
19.9k sounds like a car horn
21.1k defies description

im with you I could hear 21.1 heaps louder then 19.9(which I could barely hear) but couldn't hear the 22 at all.

But i CAN hear 21.1khz.

I can hear everything but the last one.

i hear 21.1 clearly... too bad theres no higher tone to test with

22 is empty just to let you know... if you dont believe my try seeing what it says if you select you heard it..

i can hear 21.1... but i wouldn't trust it as a ringtone, that's for sure.

and what phone can accurately produce a 21.1k signal, let alone produce that signal at all...

Actually - now that I think about it, it's probably because im wearing Shitty $2 headphones at work, with phones ringing and people talking.

Can hear all tones cept the 22.4 kHz ( cause there is no sound for it) and thats not bad for a partly tone deaf old man :D

And this stands to reason why i can hear the high pitched annoyance of the anti book stealing devices in the libraries - they drive me insane and no one else seams to hear the high pitched squeal they put out!!

Around 17-18k is about where I think I could hear up to when we were testing this back during uni.

21.1

I decided to try them on my Audigy 2 card and my Z680, the 18.8 is the quietest but still easy to hear, the 21.1 is disgustingly loud :p burning my ears,
I would say that the sound isn't that accurate to 21.1k
