I've been playing CS since 2000, when beta 5.2 was released. That's 7 gruelling years of CS. The Syndicate, Pantheon, Morality/Morale, Ceteris Paribus. WCG, CPL, ESWC, AGL.

Many other games have come and gone... many. Fear, Painkiller, Doom 3, DOD, DOD:S, Quake 3, Quake 4, UT, UT2003, COD, COD2, the MOH series, the BF series, Raven Shield... the list goes on and on. The problem wasn't that they were terrible, it's just that CS was still better, and everyone always went back.

Finally though, being so utterly bored after so many years of play, and with TF2 in sight and ETQW in hand, I feel comfortable finally and hopefully permenantly uninstalling Counter-Strike.

For me it's goodbye Counter-Strike... I feel as though celebrations are in order. :)

w00t! Rec finished puberty! :P

Post 3

you will return to css, im sure of it

Post 4

css will be awaiting your return rec...... its only a matter of time before you come back to the darkside.

Post 5

There's no doubt anything will compare to CS for a while, or really dethrone it. It was the ideal blend of punishmen/reward, and it was interactive. TF2 will hopefully bring me back, but I haven't had CS installed for quite some time... In actual fact, I've never used CSS on the HL2 engine.

Post 6

ETQW is just another mediocre fps, it'll be forgotten in 12 months just like its wolfenstein predecessor, while cs will keep going on for a very long, long time.

Post 7

Took your time man, should have done it years ago ;)

Post 8

For me I won't as far as uninstalling css, but after playing ETQW, I believe css won't be played for while.

Well above mediocre, but I don't even expect it to be played for 12 months. I'll probably be throwing it in when TF2 arrives.

Post 10

im with rec .. CS is the same as has always been the same.

In saying that bring on a game that gives me the same satisfaction that ripping people's heads off and getting them so fired up I can laugh all night long.

Really a game that bonds a few like minded people together in an interactive environment, and lets me yell abuse freely, then im all for it.

Till then well I still go back to the roots.

Post 11

Unseen, you can do that AND play CSS? There's no stopping you! :P

Post 12

CS:S and whatever form it may take in the years to come will always be around.
TF2 could be the killer but its sufficiently different to CS that you can play both and be happy.

TF2 will (hopefully) become the staple more then not but CS will always have a place.

Post 14

I thought WoW was already the CS:S killer...

Post 15

naaa allot of people from wow come back to css when they want to test there real skill and realize that wow... is a second life... you already have 1 to look after why have another..

Post 16

I just thought they wouldn't go back to CS because its shit.

*shrug*

Post 17

I'm sure Rec said something similar when ET:RTCW came out didnt he :P :)

Post 18

milenko... i heard rumors you used to smash people in css with heretic for a very long time??

Post 19

They were both noobs :)

You heard wrong!!

Post 20

aa ty for the clarification's :P

Post 21

Seriously tho Heretic when he was on was one of the best players going around.....one war he had the best team in SA calling him a cheat for a teamdown on nuke :)

Milenko just ran around spamming...sometimes it worked :P :P

Post 22

Rec/Unseen/Heretic were the best CS players i've ever played with and against locally.

Phen had awesome aim, and at their peak some of the OMR guys were top notch as were the Syndicate guys but those 3 stood out for me.

Enough CS talk...

Tongue in cheek mate ;)

I got to the point where I hit my skill 'cap'.
Couldnt compete with the pro's but owned the pub servers and I like to think I did well in online comps. The game just became unsatisfying to play, with more time cursing at ****wits and immature kids.

Don't get me wrong, I still play from time to time. I log on maybe 3 times every 6 months.

Mind you, a big part of me quitting CS was the death of DGA CS Comps.

Coco's in denial about my skillz.

Post 24

Due to fact Milenko is holding a gun to my head....

Milenko's got skillz!!

Post 25

Haha, all those sleepless nights prawning PoD bots paid off! petty all the comps died and everyone stopped playing. Kind of glad though, all good things must come to an end. I've unistalled CS about twice now :P hopefully with TF2, ET:QW, SC2, WAR all coming out...i wont ever need to reinstall it :)

Post 26

Don't forget COD4, Turok, Crysis, Haze, Time Shift and UT3! Lots of titles coming soon to keep us away from the devil game.

Post 27

I hope Turok4 is good.
I hope I hope I hope I hope.

Post 28

holy shit. i have to keep up with all these new titles! new turok? :| didnt he kill enough dinosaurs?

Post 29

question is .. Are these games ACTUALLY going to be released or delayed for another 4 years?

Post 30

Timeshift looks good, but I want to see Crysis running on my new video card sometime in the near future :)

Post 31

I can't believe they actually made a Turok 2!!! Let alone 4 of em

Post 32

All this talk of CS skill... and then Heretic and Milenko in the same sentence.

*sigh*

What has the world come to?

Post 33

meh ill still play css with me mate impale, until tf2 or another game can satisfy me ill always come back to cs... its been like that since ver 2.1 for me

though in turok i did like the brain eating spider thingy that was so damed cool

Post 34

I remember installing CS Beta ;)

And don't listen to Seqo, his clan acronym stood for Bum Masters.

Post 35

.... its ok .. he has to be a master at something :P

Post 36

i completely agree with rec, I've been playing cs since the very start, and it has persevered for so long. I think the reason CS has always lasted is it's Always changed, every new version had changes in shooting, jumping, maps, physics, weapons, graphics, and tactics and that has been why it has always stayed, people can retain skill in a game they love, and always have something new to look forward too in the future, but with the introduction of steam it changed that, there has not been any major changes for a while except for CS:S so that is going to be one of the root causes of the end of Counter-Strike. I for one am greatly looking forward to ET:QW, not so much as TF2 as i never really got into it before.

But i played Q3 for quite a while putting cs on the shelf, Eventually going back to cs. its not that quake was bad, its just it never changed, the one thing cs always did, so hopefully these new games learn from that, and maintain constant updates, and changes, benefiting the game and keeping it interesting for the players

My apologies for my bad Punctuation, and paragraphing, I'm a retard when it comes to these things :(
