For those who have seen the movie... this argument stolen from another forum.
Is the trap one of his own that he's forgotten about cause he's going nuts or did the zombies lay it for him?
I say it's his own because:
1) if he's losing his shit and talking to mannequins it's pretty easy to believe he could forget about a trap he laid.
2) the zombies have lost pretty much all human intelligence and behaviour, how the hell are they meant to build a sophisticated trap using nail guns and pulleys and whatnot.
I think the way the lead zombie was portrayed suggested that at least one of them was getting smarter - as Smith's character noted when returning from when he made the original trap.
Also watch The Omega Man which is the original movie, the zombies are portrayed in basically a more human style character but they become albinos and renounce technology
I think it was the zombie, they were betraying one of them as a leader. The same zombie also showed emotion when he capture the female, which was why it went into the sun briefly.
I thought the zombies set the trap? But that's an interesting point of view that it's a trap that he forgot about. But why would he put Fred in the middle of the street? Mergh who knows... The movie was "ok" Will certainly carried it. AND, I agree the movie should have been longer.
Through out the movie it showed how that one male vampire was intelligent. From the way he acted when the female vampire was caught, the way he laid a trap for will smith's character after witnessing the first trap. Controlling the vampire dogs. And even leading a horde of vampires to the house. If you watch carefully, you can see the expressions of emotions on his face.
I believe they copied his trap, I don't think it was one of his. They needed to spend a little more time showing him killing the mutants with a big-ass BOOMSTICK.
longer? **** no. it was boring as it was. and I dont think will carried it either. Not enough characters or dialogue. and i guess you could say, it was just a zombie movie, but there wasnt enough zombie action either :P
I think the movie was honestly closer to a thriller... Or a suspense... though when it happened it was a bit 'eh'. I'll be honest, i just couldn't sit down in this movie I didn't feel comfortable at all.
That said, watching it while standing up off to the side actually made it more bareable.
It wasn't however, what I would call a good movie. Wills acting was bad, but it's not what I'd call acting per say... He played the part well... But it wasn't a part really to begin with.
I'm suprised that it's gotten as many 'good' reviews as it has... I mean, it's not terrible like Titanic etc, but it's really just 'fluff'. I came out afterwards and just felt like I could have done without it. The only problem is, there was so much hype it led everybody to see it.
My advice? Take the money you would have spent on this film, and watch Enchanted. A brilliant film.
It was a great movie until the dog died. From then it was just downhill. Too much setup, and the zombies/vampires were annoying in themselves. Just way too powerful for what they were.
but if the zombies were smart enough to build a sophisticated trap like that, how come they weren't smart enough to wear coats and hats so they could run around during the day =/
I liked the movie, he portrayed the part well the action was done well the only part i thougt was shitty were the cgi, especially when actors and make up would have done nd looked better, that said i enjoyed the omega man more so and if i am able to track down a copy of the movie the last man alive the very original movie based on the book i am legend, id probably enjoy that more, but for what it was with out knowledge of the pror movies/story it was good.
if it was vinegar, and the zombies were intelligent, wouldn't they be able to smell the viegar? i mean, its not like it would be splashed around everywhere else
Pretty sure the liquid was bleach and thought it was mentioned as such in the movie, when the chick took him home.
I thought the trap was likely built by the 'head' zombie. The only trap we saw Will make was inside the entrance to a building (where the zombies are when hes out), not out in the street (where the zombies aren't when he is). The traps are for research subjects, they are not set and forget. They are set and wait traps. Why would he bait it with his mannequin? It was clearly implied that the 'head' zombie was getting smarter.
Ok first of all this movie like many movies these days had great potential but somehow managed to get assed up. The liquid he was pouring I'm pretty sure it waz vinegar and u can see it in the supply closet when he opens it up where all the guns are. Second I think the whole thing with the bad dude was supposed to be that will captured the bad dudes girlfriend and his reactions proved that there was still some higher brain functions or sense of belonging. I think it was stupid of them not to play on his ignorance of that fact more in the movie. This movie definately bombed after the doggie died the rat survived and returned to normal it just epic failed on the human I was hoping it would work on the dog. Oh yeah well ne who this movie disappointed me in the end and it looked so promising at the start.
Just finished watching it and I'd give it 6/10. I happily sat through constantly hoping for more flashbacks to explain more about what went wrong and why he was the head guy to find a cure but they never came. The ending was also poor.
As for the trap my impression was it was his but that the 'dark seekers' to give them their title in the film used the mannequin on him. We could see he had issues when he was talking to the mannequins in the shop. Who knows, and really who cares. There are a lot more problems I have the biggest one being when he fell from the trap and the dogs attacked him, why didn't the other dark seekers follow... I mean wtf?
CGI was also very poor. Every shot of the car driving through the empty streets you could see the car shift left or right relative to the road. For such a big budget film they should have done much better.
Will Smith did well enough for the role that it was.
the most being when the wakes up after being hung up and drags himself across the ground instead of just hopping the whole way, but miraculously after the dog gets bit he is able to spring to his feet and hop into the car.
he is pretty fukin awful at shooting, he cant even shoot a deer, seemed more interested in scaring them off with his muscle car then actually shooting any of them to eat. hell why didn't he just run one over?
there are freakin tanks lying around but he chooses to use a bloody sports car and a 4wd to go hunting in? i mean cmon
and as for the house, i mean i know he got hit on the head and all but seriously there is three of them and none of them think to close any of the windows upstairs at all? more to the point why bother risking opening the windows in the first place?
uv lights make the zombies crispy yet the whole movie he only has regular lights which are easily smashed by the zombies?
and dont even get me started on how he didnt have the dog on a leash, even though he knows if the dog runs into a dark area he is pretty much screwed
Yes throwing the god stuff at the end was cheap, also the mutants charge was a bit lame. Head mutant letting go of the dogs on him while he was crawling away made little sense why didn't he come out him self after he let the dogs go... was the mutant just aiming to take his dog away... huh.. so many questions!
Anyway i would of also made some cool bullets like the ones with the Underground Evolution that seep UV stuff gosh... grr man i could rant about my end world survival plan but i wont.
the trap was the zombies. In the book they catch him and take him back to thier lair where he finds out most of them have human intelligence just they have to stay in the dark and drink blood.
He finds out he is the murderer killing the next evolution of humanity. None of the bs way it ended hollywood style.
