So Jericho has started on local television in Australia (all be it Sci-Fi Cable), and it wasn't a bad effort either. Good load up, all be it a little soppish for the first five minutes, with bits of 'preachy' mixed in, then a bomb, then a crash, then radioactive fall out, etc...

So thinking it's going to be a good one, and getting hooked enough to want to watch more. I fortunately knew someone who'd imported them on DVD from the states and started to watch. Two a night...
So, I'm up to episode 9 (season 1) with Ep 10 and 11 tonight...

It may just be me, but I'm guessing it's not. Does anybody want to smash the heads in on most of the characters. I mean, shit, I know their US, but really... Each episode is a moral dilemma of some variety, with more conflict then is REALLY necessary, and in my opinion, so overdone/over the top that I almost feel as though I'm watching a glitzy version of Passions.

I half expect Timmy to serve Tabitha a "Martimmy" in the bar... Actually, then I'd probably watch it, but the great thing about Passions was the 'take the piss' feel. It was clearly full of shit, and that's what made it enjoyable.
Jericho doesn't appear to be taking the piss out of itself (with the one exception where the FBI fella teaching his daughter to shoot, and firing on CD's, specifically the Greatest of Vanilla Ice.)
Now, on that note, who the **** would buy a shitty CD, just to shoot when half the US is blown up? And Vanilla ice? He music had more message and melody in it then half the rap shit that comes out today.
I digress.

Lets take episode 9 as an example... One moment, we're watching a sappy scene of how one woman’s angst over potentially losing her husband, and the re-emerging love for another man is causing conflict, on her supposed to have been wedding day... Five minute in a bar scene talking to the new doctor, then suddenly a split to another scene "we have a problem" which lasts 5-10 seconds at the most, and then back to the same old scene re-iterating exactly what was said earlier, but "it was hell out there" thrown in for another 5 minutes.

Now. Does anybody else feel this way?
I'm giving it the next two episodes to become 'better'... Either the mother of the 'hero' has to die in it, or at least shut up with her constant barrage of opinions and her perspective (insert sexist remark here if you feel it's necessary) or the brother of the hero, who's a moronic asshat, who can't get over his bullshit love triangle, and the bitchy old woman had better get what's coming to her in the convenience store.

The really good characters are either too enigmatic (the Hero), the two kids who've both lost their parents (though apparently not the girl now, NY wasn't hit, thanks to heightened security since 119 giving them enough warning to get the bad guys. The Hero, who we still don't know anything about (except he served for 1 1/2 years in Iraq). And the FBI guy (the mystery guy with his kids and family, and over controlling).

.. jericho was cancelled after a 9 episode or so second season, it's barely worth getting into :P

yeh, this is just an excuse to make another ****ing shit TV series like Lost.
-Isolation,
-few people you get to know,
-forget about the nukes (they can be the big behind the scene story),
-character ****ing delimas every episode.
Stop watching now, its just another series where script writers take polls or look at internet forums on how they can deliever the next episode/series. Heroes is bad enough...

Seriously, if HBO made this, everyone would be ****ing dead or there eyes burnt out from radiation or the people of the town would be eating each other for the lack of food.

and if your looking for better TV. Seriously consider downloading the british TV series "Spooks". They seem to know that its better to kill of a character than have them la-de-da away into the background, only to ****ing reapear in a later episode!

I was getting into Jericho, BUT I was also getting into that other one about the sea creatures, Surface, but it was canned after eleven eps.
I wish the networks would finish a goddamned series. Not everyone may be a fan, but some of us are.

+! for Spooks!

Post 5

Well... I was maybe 1/3rd into the 10th episode, and said 'frack it'... I'm giving up on it.

I'll give spooks a shot. Premise?

Post 6

Spooks is pretty good. I warn you that you will get addicted.

Post 7

What's it about?

Post 8

Its about MI5 agents stopping terrorists, homegrown terrorists, anti-migration political groups, the Americans (in later series) and more.

Throughout all the series it ties in recent terrorist attacks to world wide governments, reprocussions of English coalition force attacks and pressure to a secret service agencies when things go wrong in the publics eye.

It even has the US trying to setup Iran to attack England, so the English will have a reason with US backing to attack Iran and start another war.

The polits are great and the script writing is tight and trilling.
I was statisfied with season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and im part through 6. Loved season 4 and 5.
Highly recomended!

They actully made a second season to sort of tie up the lose ends, Jericho was ok I thought (season 1, i havn't seen 2 yet), sometimes you just have to go into these things with really low expectations. I think its true of a lot of US tv shows.

Spooks is a fantastic series.
