VideoTrace - 2d video to 3d model

You are quite correct Digital Terrain Models are gradient maps, however they are produced in the same way, using 2 images (usually satellite) of the same area at different angles. It is called photogrametry, stereophotogramtry is still used quite a lot to create topographic data. You may have seen the Cyclone Tracy …

VideoTrace - 2d video to 3d model

True the source is a video, however the concept is still the same, it is being modelled from a still image. The only difference I see is that it is done on the fly, but again that is nothing new, as it is the same process used to extract geographic data from aerial images.

VGA Confusion

I'm sure you can live without food, but can you live without beer? Or does that come under a different budget in the Mungus household? :P

Motorbikes

In the NT as of July 1st you can now have a bike up to 660cc so long as it is on the approved list. See link: Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS)

From what I understand, you are allowed anything in the 250cc range except for a few sports bikes and anything that is on the approved list. From the doco: Quote: Eligible Motorcycles with an engine capacity 0-260cc All models with an engine capacity of 260cc or less with the exception of: APRILIA RS 250 HONDA NSR 2…

Motorbikes

Quote from morge;348758: The laws are set to change soon and you may not be able to ride a high Power to weight ratio bike without upgrading your license. Too many AJs killing themselves. It is expected that we will go to an appoved bike like list like some other states. The laws changed on July 1st. There is a list…

Photo shoot locations in Darwin

Lets see, the Wesleyan church at the botanical gardens, possibly all sorts of places at the gardens acutally, go scope it out. The old town hall ruins. The cliffs at the bottom of Darwin High. Some of those fancy smancy marinas with all the yachts? The old prison buildings at Gunn Point might be good too, but its a …

Jericho - A tale of modern apocalypse, or over hyped soap?

They actully made a second season to sort of tie up the lose ends, Jericho was ok I thought (season 1, i havn't seen 2 yet), sometimes you just have to go into these things with really low expectations. I think its true of a lot of US tv shows.

Am I Being Scammed Here?

Ah the joys of being a technician, I had one customer, a biology teacher apparently, trying to tell me that ants in a power supply couldnt possibly short anything out. A lot of customers would complain when their fax machines got hit by lightning too. They are an odd bunch. Not to mention the 1500 odd government use…

Credit Card Frauded

"500 went missing off of my credit card after I returned from Singapore/Malaysia after Christmas. The only thing is, I am almost 100% sure I didn't use it while I was over there, so lord knows how it happened. :S

Helpdesk Funnies

4wd gone wrong

How long did it take you to get out? A friend and I went on one trip and I managed to get us bogged 4 times! Last time took us 3 or so hours to get out.

WTB: DVD Player

I would really suggest you research standalone divx/xvid players, the cheaper ones use chipsets that dont fully support xvid. I have a cheap one from DSE, sometimes it doesnt decode the video that well and you get sound skips and the picture degrades. Also I have found that if you want to watch say a TV series, it w…
