Good old vid cards

I read an article about UT2003 http://www.ina-community.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=182172 and it said that old graphics cards such as the TNT2 and even 3DFX's Voodoo3 are able to run on this game. Although they were running in 16bit and low resolutions they were using an Athlon 1GHz and crappy drivers. For those people with these sorts of cards you can use better drivers and even overclock them, a higher CPU would also help out. The rumours about GF4 and Radeon 8500s or higher only being able to play this game are obviously just hyped BS.
Long live the TNT2 and Voodoo3 :D

Exactly Seqo_ae, I was thinking who would play the game if nobodies computers ran it. They wouldnt make any money cos nobody would buy it. As far as I can tell, that will be Doom3 biggest problem. If it doesnt run on a TNT2 then nobody will play it (Jimmy).

Yeah Martok sif T&L is a performance increase these days (unless you have a Pentium2), its the bottleneck for the GeForces in modern games, lol all hail SSE. That backfired in nVidias face and also the fact that DX9 not utilising T&L, hehe  Talk about a waste of GPU real estate!

And your wallet!!!

opengl still uses the T&L unit... just to let you know ;)

Post 6

Yes but if you have a CPU that is fairly new, you dont need T&L cos you have SSE :P

I know, its a shame. Sorry dude, the days of PentiumIIs are over. I have a real CPU now, its called an Athlon. I would much rather use that than T&L that cannot be disabled on a slow T&L card (GF2, GF3, Savage, Kyro2SE).

Or a PIII 600MHz (slow!) that outperforms a GF2 GTS via SSE.
