Hey i just found out about ADSL with this internode company http://www.internode.com.au and it seems a good deal better then the current one that i have with telstra (4.5gig limit and no upload limit for less price) i was just wondering if anyone has any experience or knows anyone with experience with this company.Like whether or not they fuck you over and shit like ive heard some internet companies do.

They might have something also look at http://whirlpool.net.au/. They have a forum for each major ISP here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/. So id say your bound to find tonnes of customer opinions there :)

I'm with Internode and have been for 4 months.
I believe them to be the best ISP in Australia by a country mile.
I started on a 512/128 4.5Gb connection (shared with Swerve) for 3 months. Didn't even disconect for the whole time. Flawless performance. Every download at 50+ k/s. Pings to Adealide and GA servers around 35ms (Im in Adelaide)
I am now on 1500/256 3Gb. Pings are now 10-20ms to Internodes new 15 or so brand spanking new games servers (4 CS 4 MOHAA 2DOD 1 SOF2 1 UT + more) All downloads are 150+k/s.

Support is amazingly efficient
I have never spent more than 2 minutes on hold when calling them.
They provide free dial up access if your ADSL is down.
The Managing Director of the company posts daily on the whirlpool forums and is actively discussing improvements with the userbase.
Contracts are 3 months initially then on a month by month basis.
Setup fee is 139. You are much better off purchasing your modem else where if you dont already have one.
basically Im wrapped.
If you have any further specific queries....post away.
Read the whirlpool forums. They will give you a really good idea of what the service is like. The only real complaints you will find are to do with things that are _really_ telstra faults...

I've also been with internode for a few months, they weren't *quite* as fast as telstra but it's definitely livable :P gotta love the 4.5 gig download limit, haven't had too many problems with it.

Been with internode for a few months now, very happy with them.
The only reason they have free game servers and file downloads is because they listened to their customers. :D

well when i come back from bush, i am getting it as well.
simon and his team have personally responded to me over at the whirlpool forums, and their plans rock.
i dont need download speed, i just want the low ping and data limit.
so i am getting the 8 gig plan for 90 bucks.. i think its 128/64 or something.

anyways, i am just waiting on telstra to approve my line at the moment, simon hackett (Owner of the company) responds to questions personally over at whirlpool or if you whim/email him. very good company imo
customer service is amazing (i have been with their dialup for close to three months) and any problem (the few that i have actually had) have been dealt with in a matter of mins :)

I got a more specific question now. When the download limit first came out for telstra adsl i tried to setup my own mirc channel specifically for telstra users cause i figured downloading from one telstra user to another wouldnt add to the download limit and you know 3 gig limit multiplied by alot of ppl quickly becomes a 100gig limit. Unfortunately i was wrong and we quickly found that it did in fact add to the download limits although that made no sense to me as to why. Anyways my question is does trading stuff between internode users add to your downloads???????

I just checked the pricelist and i dont see any plan for $90 a month with a 8000mb limit?? But then i dont see any prices for 128/64 connection. Do you know a link that has those prices on it??

the slowest link is 256, and its only 4.5 gig for 90 bucks.
thats the one i am getting.
i thought it was the 8 gig one, but its 110 dollars or something.
i wil see how much i download then change plans.

Internode have nothing like WAIX, so yes it will count towards your download cap to transfer stuff between internode users...
what is good though is that you can send as much as you want and it doesn't count towards your download cap...(thanks internode for free uploads :D)

Actually internode is part of the SAIX but unfortunately this hasn't equated to free data for the customers to other ISP's on the SAIX(yet). But hopefully in the future this maybe implemented?? atm they have the games servers and some files servers (mainly for games and not much in there yet) but it is a 1st step to more hopefully :)

Problem with Internet exchanges is they are state based.
For a national company like the Node it becomes very complicated to enable free access to the IX in each state.
The comapnies that currently offer this (WestNet) are Single state ISPs. WA seems to have an especially good setup.

Simon's also said that there's no point them getting links to x if they aren't going to get any benefit out of it.... they can't just throw money around just because. I meant that in a general way not at you guys.. :)
http://www.ausbone.net/ - the site's changed a bit and was a better design before... the purpose seems different as well. Seems as though they are trying to involve all the smaller exchanges and integrate them into ausbone? iirc ausbone had peering points in bris, melb and syd and used space provided by AAPT (still do)... but things seem to have progressed a bit as I said it looks like they might be trying to link up all the smaller ones and get more online.
