Yes people tomorrow night is a tribers delight..
Let everyone who can get on the server say from 7:30 to have a game of tribes 2..

We still havent ironed out all the adminning bits yet, but lets just get on and have a fun game..
I have played it a fair bit, but Im rusty as hell.. But I am happy to help anyone with things when we are in the map playing..

Now I'll point out again for the braincells that weren't listening.. If you want to bitch, or complain, or "comment" about the server in anything but a positive or constructive manner, shut the hell up! Yes Knight of Ni, this means you.
I don't want to hear your running commentary on how few people are playing. I don't want to hear you whine about how we should have some other game because "it will be soo much more popular".
Untill you can hand me a computer, with fully payed for and liscenced software for the game you want hosted, shut the hell up!!
I would like to apologise to anyone else reading this, I get a touch irritated when people whine in my general direction too much.
Ya see.. the box I installed the basics on.. I installed Linux ( free ) then the tribes 2 dedicated server ( also free ).
Now to all the ppl who want something else on the server..
If U provide a legitimate CD of Windows, still shrinkwrapped for free.
And if U also provide a legitimate copy of any game U want run by octa ( also still shrinkwrapped ).
And a computer capable to run it..
Im sure it can get hosted, which is a tall call, since a games server chews through HUNDREDS of dollars worth of bandwidth each month.
If U cant do this, then shush. Be happy for what U get.
Remember the old rule U get nothing, for nothing well U are lucky this time.. U are getting something for nothing. So be happy.
ok, cow got a copy of tribe 2 today, installed and updated to the server requirements, who up for a game tonight, or maybe tomorrow night? puleeeeeeeeeese? :)
mm problems, when i go to do the training in solo/LAN, the game loads the lighting then quits and returns to windows, also when i run multi, it asks me to download sierraupdate, do i really need to? i heard there was a patch to remove this? help pls :'(
Sly: Didn't want admin :P Was offering help on setting it up, cos I was playing on it and noticed Vote to Admin is still enabled, wanted to let you know how other servers are run to keep the minions from over running :)
Cow: I don't know what you mean ? There is another patch coming out within a week, and there is a beta out, but that is optional.
Also, with the LAN problem, are you using a burnt copy to try and play ? If so, then that's why - use your real CD or find a No CD crack, and all is good :)
Also Sly, is the server going to be bookable to the T2 community (It's pretty small atm :\ www.bittah.com for the forums of where most are), or is it just for you guys?

First off, we brought the server online as soon as we got it in the server room..
We have now dropped BW admin and Tcon on it.
I do know what I am doing, and for the second time, thank you but no thank you..
This is also going to be a community based server.. IF we decide it can be bokable to ppl outside this community we will post it..
I WAS the SAD for the Rogue Disciples Server.. And that server was packed to maximum players almost 24/7..
Now we really had 2 choices..
Either get it all set up while the machine was offline, then bring it online with all the bells and whistles.
Or Bring it online now for community members to have a play, and we can work on it over the next few weeks at our leisure.
We decided to bring it online for the enjoyment of our members..
Also just for idle info, I live in South Australia.. The server is in Darwin..
I got the hardware Friday, I flew out of Darwin Sunday.. So I had about 3 hours to install Linux and create a T2 server. I couldnt dedicate any more time to it, cos this was my holidays I did it in.
So I think we are doing just fine.. THANK YOU :evil:

If you don't want my help that's cool, and I know you were in RD, and that server was great (What happened to it, and RD? I remember casting their last match, and you guys were saying you were going off ladder for a little while, to recruit more ?).
I had a spit with Cryptic, the clan leader..
We used to email eachother and have private chats.. but it seems he thought it was fine to forward my private emails to half the clan..
I didnt really like that betrayal of trust, so I spat it and quit the clan..
Subsequently I allowed the server to stay running, but it eventually got shut down. It was being hosted as a favour to me, and I think things went to the dogs.. I dont know ( and care less ) about the final details..
I never see RD players on the servers anymore..
And Iri, Im not angry in any way.. I was just letting U know, we do know what we are doing as far as running servers in this community :)
Yes, just thought you might have forgotten some things in your time away / wanted to know what's happening on the scene :)

Must admit its been a few months since I left the tribing scene, wouldnt mind a update.. And I may get back into tribing again, this server might inspire me.. Thats if we get some ppl from the community putting down their colts/AKs and picking up Spinners and mortars..

Well I dunno where you left off, but I assume X was around at the time ? A lot of clans have left, some of the bigger names being Mythic, Dark Ministry and now AE have thrown down the towel (Although hopefully to get more recruits)
SH are number 1 clan, X, reformed MX3, got their first loss from them. Currently there are 13 clans on the ladder, and I think only 12 are active. The clan I am part of myself, Zero Divide, is off the ladder on a recruiting spree. We grabbed DoM ;)
Other than that, not much has happened hehehe :)
If your interested in getting into a clan, zD could use recruits :)
yeh i got a dodgy copy off my friend iriticus, ive got a couver for EB, so ill pick it up this week. earlier i downloaded two tribes 2 updates,

those two patches, so go straight from the CD version to GU server version, what else would i need.
