Does anyone know how to use OpenGL in the new UT? (no Linux smartarse answers pls)
The default install has OpenGLDrv.dll in the System folder so it shouldn't be too hard if its already in the game.
Thanks ppl.

Open up your UT2003.ini file.

Heres the relevant section of mine (Direct3d and Null being disabled for obvious reasons).

[Engine.Engine]
;RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem
NetworkDevice=IpDrv.TcpNetDriver
DemoRecordingDevice=Engine.DemoRecDriver
Console=XInterface.extendedconsole
GUIController=XInterface.GUIController
Language=int
Product=UT2003
GameEngine=Engine.GameEngine
EditorEngine=Editor.EditorEngine
DefaultGame=XGame.XDeathmatch
DefaultServerGame=XGame.XDeathmatch
;ViewportManager=WinDrv.WindowsClient
ViewportManager=SDLDrv.SDLClient
Render=Render.Render
Input=Engine.Input
Canvas=Engine.Canvas

Ok did that and it tried to go into it as OpenGL however is says the following:
OpenGL renderer relies on DXTC/S3TC support

Obviously DXTC is DirectX, but my card suports S3TC. Actually it FXT1 that either uses the 3dfx type compression or can emulate the S3TC compression. It may not like that feature, who knows I'll try different drivers, thanks Avari :wink:

I don't think you can use a 3DFX card with UT2K3. Don't forget that 3DFX uses a different version of OpenGL.

3DFX cards work fine in it. We've had 'em running since it came out.

No earlier ;)

Diffenent version of OpenGL, um no it uses the same as all the other cards out there. If you were referring to Glide then my card supports that too, but it doesn't mean I can't run DirectX or OpenGL, Glide is simply and extra ontop of the other two :D

I have been running UT2K3 on my Voodoo5 in DirectX, but I want to run it in OpenGL (if it's possible) so I can use HSR. Some maps the fps turn to shit when I'm looking at a simple wall :shock: obviously its drawing the scene behind it and that's what I want to stop.

BTW the 3dfx Underground 1.09-beta4 are out. There is also a Beta5 and 6 however I haven't been able to locate the 5 and 3dfx Underground aren't releasing Beta6 yet/if at all. The final version should be out when DX9 is released (soonish). The drivers support DX9 and OpenGL 1.4.

Yeah Glide is just 3dfx's API which was sort of a basis (if u can call it that) for OpenGL. Only problem is that UT2003 probably doesnt support glide but we can still use OpenGL and it should still work in UT2003, probably just needs some tweaking :)
