are they any good for gaming and a bit of leeching?

if so which one is better.

i would be using it for mainly gaming and i'd probably be getting the 1500/256 unlimited plan

Post 2

Flatrate on Node is good... gaming will go down the shitter if you leech over 20gb though.

not sure about TPG.

Post 3

Umm Pinner man didn't you have cable?
Cos I wouldn't go anything lower :P
But if you have to Internode are a great ISP and have very few problems, speed is usually 100% fine. 1.5mbit Unlimited plan would rock :P

Post 4

Doesn't ozforces have an unlimited plan that doesn't slow you down if you download to much?

Post 5

just wandering is it true that adsl is just as good as cable.

or is adsl only good for local sites. so if u download anything from say the US then is it real slow?

just wanderin since we movin house and may get it.

is it still good speed?

cheack out www.whirlpool.net.au and do the broad band choice thing.

I use internode, they have GREAT customer service.. eveytime i ring i have never held for more than a minute, the games mirrors are good and the game servers well the DC one anyway. I have never had any problems with them except for when telstra goes down, like the other nite but all was fixed by morning. The only downside is when you first apply it will take about 21days before everything is up and running, depending on your area bu it will be no more than that. Laso they are a cheaper option than some of the rest.
Any way i used that broadband calculator at whirlpool then read the isp's forums.

yes i have cable, but 3 gig with 3 people who use the net a lot doesn't go very far and unlimited or even larger plans on cable r too expensive.

as far as i know, ADSL is as good as cable for gaming but a lot slower for downloading (1500/256 would go up to max 150 k/sec whereas cable for me atm is like 600 k/sec max)

thanx for the input, more is welcome ;)

Post 8

Hmm I suppose - although i dont believe it compares to cable still :P
1.5mbit might though (DSL)

Post 9

neither of them are ass good as iinet adsl

adsl can be just as fast as cable..depends on what plan ur on. when it comes down to it it depends on how much money youve got to spare..as if u cant wait that little bit longer for a file to download if it means u'll be paying $20 less per month : /

Post 10

who said i don't wanna wait for files to d/l? and who said it's $20 less? or weren't u talkin to me? i'm confused :S

Post 11

iiNet is good if you don't mind scheduling all your downloading for the wee hours of the morning. I also do't think they cover the whole of Aus yet.

Im on node 1500 and I love my 15ms pings.

Post 12

I agree with reload, iinet is a good isp... has been for me anyways. On the 512 plan i average 30-40 ping to brisbane servers and 60-80 to sydney/melbourne servers
+ i get 12 gigs of downloads, perfect for me. But everyone has their own opinions and needs.

Post 13

Yeh, We thought about changing to iiNet, but i heard ppl say it doesn't ping so well. It's great for leaching tho (hence the ping thing).

Mentasm, Unspoken, have either of u had problems with Internode dropping out, coz i got friends of live on northside brissy with it, and they say they get drop outs heaps??? (could be just their area, its a bit old!!)

Has anyone heard anything about TPG??? I got a friend with that 2, he hasn't had a single problem yet, but thats only 1 person, wouldn't mind knowing if anyone else knows anything.

Thanks heaps guys.

Oh yeh, hey ya'll been a while :)

Post 14

sup phantom ;)

uhm, internode rocks. especially if you sign up with Layer 2 Authentication.

haven't heard anything about TPG so i dunno. Node doesn't and hasn't dropped out for me... i just leave it on and don't have to reconnect.

the only problem that i see with Node is the low download limit on premium plans... flatrate is good though ;) (but gaming suffers the more you d/load)

Internode is good. Netspace is pwnage :)

All these unlimited dealies are going to come to a screaming halt once COMindico runs out of money. They're losing a fuck-ton on these deals, just like Telstra were originally. Once that happens, you guys are going to be left up shit creek without even a boat :)

me likes the sound of that. but not the smell. down with the leechers.

buy the CD. its better quality and you get to keep the cover.
rent the DVD. watch it in good quality. rip it for later
watch the tv. sure you have to wait an extra 6 months but hey.

what else is there to download. porn? are all these unlimited plans being used for a major porn hoarding?

Post 17

tell that to the other ppl in my house.

all i use it for is gaming :P
