I have just recieved my new MoBo and Vid Card.

I have a 512 meg stick of DDR 400, however it won't boot unless the bios ram speed is set to 333 mhz :( (fsb still 200/400 mhz) howver WCPUID still shows it as being 400 mhz even tho the bios says it's 333. WTF???? Which one is right???

I reckon the bios is wrong and wcpuID is right, but could someone help me.
The MoBo is an nforce2 leadtek K7NCR18DProII.

flash the bios and update.

Being an nForce2 you are probably running a 333FSB, but running the ram asynchronously to the FSB. eg 333FSB and 400DDR.
You'll need to manually set your ram speed to run at 333 because it's set to "speed" (in which your case is 200MHz/400Data Rate).

I have manually set the RAM to 333 in bios and the fsb to 200/400 cause even tho its a 400 Ram Stick, it won't boot when bios is set to 400. But when bios is set to 333, WCPUID reads 400.91 Mhz

Did it ever occour to you that maybe your board wont pull 200FSB? And another thing, you should always run your ram in 100% synced with the fsb as it makes no difference in speed if you run 400Mhz ram and 166fsb to 333Mhz ran with 166fsb.. if ya catch my drift, also the board can be unstable running out of sync, and there are some ram types that dont like the NF2 chipsets... ok, i hope some of this helps :\

Thanx turkey, I'd say it's the RAM and MOBO not agreeing cause the board is an Nforce2 Ultra 400, it is designed to run at 400 with my processor that's why I got that one.

If I want full stability I have to run the ram at 320 mhz with the FSB at 400. I'm just gonna have to deal with it till I get some money to buy some TwinX sticks cause the board does Dual Channel
