Been running the beta for a while now and it's easily the biggest, bestest release Apple have made. Some of the awesomeness I'm enjoying:

- Safari Reader means plain-text reading of articles, and the ability to save it to read later or when offline.
- Red-eye reduction built-in....

Hot on the heels of Valve's Portal for Mac teaser posters, parodying Apple brand advertising campaigns, is a Half-Life 2 on Mac teaser trailer. For those oblivious to its relevance, it too parody's the Apple hype machine, this time drawing from an infamous television commercial that did the rounds in 1984. The cat is out of the bag on the next major iPhone update. Mostly importantly for everyday use is the official implementation of multitasking, as featured in the embedded video - but this and many other features will only be possible on the iPhone 3GS and newer. There's a whole lot more than multitasking to gawk at, however.....

Nintendo's recently revealed 3DS hand-held is set to feature a 3D screen - sans the silly glasses. The device will also feature a "3D control stick", presumably an analogue stick. Today sharp released a slew of details regarding a new technology, which is a 3D touchscreen LCD, switchable between 2D and 3D modes. The 3.4-inch, 480 x 854 screen has instantly become the rumored tech to be featured in Nintendo's next iteration of the DS.

On the iPhone forefront, some patent-snooping has turned up some very interesting applications from Apple. It seems they're considering motion sensing, rumble, dual screen and button add-ons for the iPhone, iPod and indeed iPad. IntoMobile discovered the patent made public yesterday, and would be sure to alleviate the frustration many have with using a touch screen exclusively for mobile gaming.

Over the course of the last two months we've seen numerous reasons to believe that Valve has been developing Steam for the Mac. Today they started sending around not-so-cryptic imagery affirming that suspicion, as featured in this article. There isn't much more to report at this stage, but I imagine we can expect an official announcement very soon....

A month ago we reported on Chris Green's LinkedIn profile, with some details that seemed suspiciously like Valve were making plans to send Steam the way of Mac OS. Now, with the release of the new Steam beta, more hints have been discovered......
