I was listening to the ABC radio station and heard that there will be a new speed limit for suburbs. I was getting really pissed of at some of the people rining up and congradulating for the new speed limit. And then people who didn't agree with it was complaining that they should teach people to drive better. I am soon to get my drivers permitt, my driving instructor tells me storys of dodgy driving teachers that hands out lisense like they mean nothing at all. And the goverment does nothing about it because in short terms they cbf. To get your drivers you have to do 2 theory lessons, first theory you have a pt 1 and 2. Second theory you have to learn about affects of drugs, first aid all that crap. Then you have 3 driving tests you have to pass in order to get your permitt.
Anyway as of next year all suburb streets, will have a speed limitt of 50km. I personaly think this is rediculas. I don't see how cutting the speed limit down will do anything but make us get to our destination slower.
I live on a T intersection in Millner, a popular spot for people to do burn outs and what not. The people who do these sorts of things and that continue to speed, aren't going to be affected by the 10km change. The poeple who do stick to the speed limit will continue to do so, the people who never did, never will until they mature. So why should us sensible people have to suffer? There is nothing wrong with the 60km speed limitt.
It is always commonese to look before you cross the road you get taught that in transition! And any younger child than that trying to cross a road on their own, the parents should be shot for not supervising their child.
I am very curious as to everyone elses views on the new speed limitt. I am also interested in what Lataf has to say, do you think it will help?
