well a good lan as usual network good power OK a few small restarting issues sat afternoon but much more tame then the usual power down :P lots of games played DC went well have 12 or so each side i think at one stage CoD was played (not by me:() but i watches clackers and sif (cock) and Bung-Eye (sax) play it though it was awsome so i am going to play it tommrow :) Q3 was played a bit raker got owned as per normal C&C was played i dont knwo what happened there but i saw people playing it CS of corse (wahoo i did alright for once) MotoGP2 comp went ahead in the early hrs of the morning we played on 2 servers then the top 8 played it out for the title i came last in the top 8 :( not happy jan i think monkey won slut
o yeah gotta say this my ftp got hammered i looked at my LAN icon and it said 1.9 terrorbytes uploaded i was like  didnt know my computer could handle that much :P but yeah i wonder what the-realm uploaded cause that got thrashed far more them mine i can imaggin
anyways thats too all for the great lan tiem for me to have a shower and a sleep
I had fun :) First time playing MotoGP2 and it was quite fun. C&C was quite a bit laggy expecially at 2am in the morning but manage to get by playing a fair bit.
Can i just ask if people WOULD NOT leave their chairs right in the middle of the main walk way, it may of been because the different table arrangments and having the projector up. But still that is no excuse for just leaving your chairs in the middle of a walk way. I am not a big person and hate carrying my monitor and then to knock 3 or 4 chairs out the way as i walk pass is just frustrating and unsafe. Its not much to ask to put your chair back after you have finished.
Was a good lan, good leeching and counterstrike of course as now i've discovered beyond most doubt that my computer really cant handle anything more  I'm getting a new one soon but :D
ummm... Interesting war vs. SB, played 1 map and got beaten pretty bad and then on the next map we were just starting to win when my connection cuts out
I think the switch at our table was playing up because every two hours or so it would cut out from the rest of the network and give us bogus ip's and all kinds of wierd shit.. but good work to the admins for fixing that in the end :)
I was pretty happy with the variety at this LAN... Although I neeer got to vote on consoles being played... unless it was done before I came
The only thing I have to say that was bad was the switch I was on... It kept cutting out from the rest of the network and was at the far end of the table :x
Other than that everything was good... Good leaches and AWESOME pings... DGA seems to be looking better and better as it progresses :D
Quote from Milenko: Good lan indeed. But as everyone always does, i have a bitch.
The projector.
Ok, i have no real issues with having a projector at the venue, hell, if some decent games are played with it, then im all for it.
The thing that pissed me off about it, was teh yelling etc that came with people watching the footy on it.
seriously, if i wanted to here that, over gaming, i would have gone to a pub.
Other than that, great LAN :D Cheers DGA :D
p.s (Harbingers crazy....crazy in the head..)
The yelling was for like, 2 hours.. and i had people sitting near me who were yelling the whole night, louder than the guys watching the footy. I think they were playing CS or Generals. And i'm not bitching about them, i'm just saying it's a loud place in there anyway.
And i'll say this now, if you play games on the projector, you are going to have more people hanging around it watching and where there is people watching, there will be people yelling. I've had it set up at my place, and the people playing and watching yell and scream and all sorts of crap, Rugby and Games alike.
All round, great LAN. I had a few network problems at the start (combination of dodgy netowrk card and DGA issues) but once i sorted that out, it was great. See you all at DGA25!
Quote from leonami: So speaking of projectors... whats the verdict with consoles + projectors... obviously if its allowed for rugby i am guesssing its allowed for gaming?
We are still discussing this at the moment and will get back to you shortly
Quote from leonami: So speaking of projectors... whats the verdict with consoles + projectors... obviously if its allowed for rugby i am guesssing its allowed for gaming?
In hindsight, the projector was set up in a bad place, being the end of the center runway! If i were to set it up again, i'd be looking at off to one side (obviously away from the entrance)
Lan was good, I had a good time playing Generals, Tetrinet, Warcraft and Starcraft.
The only thing that pissed me off was the broodwars comp. Im not gonna bother running starcraft which is apparently the big 'force' nowadays because nobody the only people interested in it didnt show up. Im not about to go chasing people to play a comp they dont care about. Static and Leonami didnt even show up till late and when I tried to get some starcraft happening they didnt want to play.
Sure they were scared of my skillz after leo watched me for a bit but still !!
So screw broodwars next time I say tetrinet there were obviously more people interested in that.
Quote from OverDrive: Geez Milenko - why didn't you just go watch the game then.... It was our country playing ffs.
Quote from Milenko: Sorry Dan, not compelled to watch it.
Oh well, missed a good game... your loss. Even it if was a sport that I don't particulary enjoy such as soccer, if Australia was playing I would've understood the noise - hell, I probably would've gone and watched it myself. But that's just me I guess...
I mean, if that's your only whinge for the weekend, then the DGA guys must've done a damn fine job - well done :)
The only prob Milenko had was people enjoying themselves ;)
Yeah, I agree!!! Wickedly Good LAN!!! Had no problems, Network ran fine where I was sittin, also so did the power other than the storm :( ... oh well all cool
Only leeched 55-60GB.... oh well maybe next time ill buy another 120 :) (SATA) :D
My thanx goes out to the two who had the first two friends series and the 3 series of X-Files :D
Also to the admins for running such a great LAN, and I hope it runs this smoothly next time, with some more comps maybe though. The war between .|sb|. and [icdu] was a little dissapointing, but it was a learning experience :D
I don't know whether this was solved or not, but at about 8 - 10ish I think, someone had their Sub turned up full. I don't usually mind it's just that it was awful music.. At least play something every1 likes
K there's my 2 cents worth but overall it was great
Only thing I am worried about now is that harb has a copy of all the piccies taken at the lan, and there being some seriously detailed pics
I think we lay in dread for harbs handiwork to start to appear
ahh but skinny now has pictures oh little harby warby i may not be as good as him with animations and all that shit but i have pictures lol :P btw p-air bring that toy to the next lan i like it :P
Shame on you Raker, SHAME! You ditched us when we needed Serious Samz0r 2!!!
We waited near 2 hours for you to come back, but you no-showed !!!!
We (Myself, Harbinger, Monkey and a few others) were very disappointed :(
Quote from Harbinger: nothing wrong except for my leaky esky.
Iceberg ahead Captain!! Damn good esky. I almost caught two miniture eskimos building a miniture igloo....ok not really, but man, that woulda been so cool.
Now when you feel like you can tackle the real world let us know. :P
Neway I apologied to harb on sun about not being there for SS2, but I crashed out at home and didnt get back up till 9am. But next time SS2 will be done.
Everything about the Lan ran fairly smoothly, which was great. Some Cat5 issues some power issues - Storm Some ppl didnt pay or forgot to pay but all in all it went very well.
One gripe is that ppl cant come into the venue until 12pm, which means they cant come and set up until we have gotten everything sorted out and ready.
So next time please turn up at 12pm and then pay at the door, then setup.
But dont plug your computer into the network until an admin has checked that your network settings are correct.
To the Gamers that remembered to pay me at 2.30pm on Sunday..Well done. To the gamer that PM'd me apologising saying bill me twice next time, poor but just acceptable. To the 9 or 10 people that DID NOT PAY, do not consider your self equal to anyone in the human race. You are LOW. You will be found and removed accordingly. What gives with some of you people, we sit at the door then out of fairness we work on the honour system. Well screw that it's time for the MONEY NAZI to return.
[quote="Skinny ahh but skinny now has pictures oh little harby warby i may not be as good as him with animations and all that shit but i have pictures lol :P btw p-air bring that toy to the next lan i like it :P[/quote]
Give me the pics of harb skinny!.... NOW!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
i need someone to wan... laugh at.. and make somehting new...

Hell I was gonna play but you started just as i was about to join... I had to revert to 1.09 cos it looked as if you were playing on 1.09... besides.. your game went on for hours
We still having money scamming issues. I shall devise a method before the next lan to eradicate these offenders. If I catch you I will make you wish you had died at childbirth.
Now be honest and dont abuse the system. If you cant afford it either speak to an admin and make some form of arrangements. This is not to say we will run a book up system but in all honesty if you are a bit short and do the right thing we can maybe help you.
Bucalan in Bathurst, Charles Sturt Uni, uses stickers on monitors with a name on the sticker. If someone if found abusing the system, they get a photo taken of them, screw up once more and ge a second phto is a 6 month ban.
Just be a little harsher, but in a friendly way :)
i reckon the ID tags around the neck is a good idea. worked really well at Evo 3 i believe.
plus, id tags are 1337 :P
Milenko, i believe this is also a terrific idea. the 'nut kicker' should go around, anybody that is not wearing or displaying their tag gets the punishment.
Ill be the NUT KIKR, that way I get to practise on Knight and Skinny. They could be the testies :P
All these are good Ideas. Something that can be displayed or can be around the neck makes it easier to spot those that havent paid.
Also before anyone plays big games eg CS, CoD etc they must come to a central place in the room to have their tags checked or bring there receipt that way only the ppl who have paid get into the game and the password to the locked server. Thats if we want to do something like that.
Except... On Sunday afternoon, after I'd leeched about 60-70Gb of stuff, one of the drives in my RAID array decided it had enough, and died. Of course, I'm using RAID 0, so I lost everything - all the stuff I'd leeched, all my software, not to mention major essays and projects for uni.
Fun, fun :P
Anyway, drive has been replaced, and I'm rebuilding the array right now. Thankfully I had a tape backup (from a few months ago :( ).
Come on, get the next DGA happening so I can leech all that stuff back again :P
i'm in the process of designing a more modern avatar, and the one on my car/jet ski will be replaced also.
It will still be a burger.
my first day of work i was called Junior Burger.. it stuck (since shortened to JB, Burgs, Burger, Junior...) half the people at work don't even know my real name!
well.. that's my little story.
My (new) avatar will also be on my new case, hopefully all in time (avatar, case, car, jetski) for DGA25!
well i bring my speakers to lan. but i believe i'm within acceptable limits to them
i don't have a pair of headphones so speakers are what i have to resort to using.
i've personally only owned a sub long enough to bring to the last dga i went to and i turned the sub volume down to a min. even crank the settings on windows to keep the bass down. as for general volume, i try to keep it to a level where i believe its about to the level of room chatter, ie just enough for me to hear something
if i've annoyed anyone, then of course i apologise for that. but of course, i implore anyone if it gets too much, then by all means, you can come up to me and tell me to turn it down.
looking at getting the zalman 5.1 headphones for the next lan...
but of course i'll still be bringing speakers next lan for some console action via the ps2/gamecube. naturally displayed on my monitor of course.
i'm staying away from the projector debate with a ten foot pole...
Don't bother with the Zalman 5.1(fake) headphones. You'd be much much much much better off getting some decent normal 2 driver headphones for the same price.
Anyway the go was supposed to be no speakers whatsoever when I went. Annoyed me to hell at night people decided speakers should go up just because there weren't as many people around. Not to mention I use open headphones :\
just scan em at the door and then do spot checks to make sure no one snuck in ... like they do for stock takes at coles etc .... little hand held suckers that ya can connect to a PC to update a DB .....
Good to see you're still alive and kicking and finally posting again paladin :D
Anyway I've had a huge rant on the zalman heapdhones over here. I'm sure Jarthel would agree with myself on how those headphones really perform in the actual world of headphones - they've just been pimped well in marketing compared to real headphones. http://www.gamers-underground.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12823&highlight=zalman
I've always been a fan of branding the people who don't pay.
