Recantly a friend of mine from Adelaide stayed with me for a few weeks. Claiming he had been kicked out of home.
Well what a mistake that was, the guy turns out to be this chronic liar, I knew he made stuff up all the time but this was worse then ever. I talked to his brother and friends and he hadnt even been kicked out his parents had sent him to darwin on a holiday. So fancy that shit hey. He also told themn I owned a resturant. Which is so far from the truth it's not funny.
after I talked to his friend about what trouble I was having his friend went to his parents and told them and they rung David at my place. So David shouts "fuck" slams the phone down and leaves. Eventually he comes storming back apparently he had been at a payphone and yelled at me with about 10 other people in the room how I fucked him over and his parents had now cut him off his trust fund and he had to fly to perth cause he sold his computer and it was the cheapest ticket he could find.
SO I ran off and called his parents, anyway. Deal is he never had a trust fund. His parents are more then willing to pay for a plane ticket home for him and he told them he had 1000 dollars when he told me he had no money and out of the goodness of my heart I had been paying for all his food so he didn't starve till he got a job.
Anyway his parents 'who didnt love him at all' brought him a business class ticket home.
Just yesterday I contacted him about some money he owed me. I also contacted a few people from forums we both frequent to get my money. (it was only 50 bucks but it was the principle)
Anyway the deal is now I have never threatened him, i exposed his lies and told a few people about what he did. However he has threatened legal action against me and gotten a restraining order.
Problem is I live in Darwin and havent been to Adelaide for almost 2 years, never threatened him and actually have about 20 witnesses about how mentally unstable he is.
My friend seems to think that he can get the order against me. I was wondering what anyone else says.
Restraining orders are funny things - the onus of proof is on him to show that there is a valid legal reason that you should not have any contact or be within a certain distance of him.
Now if you have never physically attacked or verbally abused, damaged any of his property etc I do not think he has a leg to stand on.
Anyway if you are in Darwin and he is in Adelaide then its a bit of a non event - ie the twain shall never meet anyway
You did the right thing in doing all that... good work. It's unfortunate how some people can take advantage of others, who are doing them (often expensive) favors for no other reason then they asked. You'd think they'd be greatful; some day's you're up, some days you're down, but it's your mates that pull you up when you've hit bad luck.
It's cases like this which make me worry about humanity. But, well, I know that such people are only a tiny portion of the population, and it's just unfortunate that he landed in your metaphorical lap SperO... it could have happened to most any of us. :/
it is possible for him to lie through his teeth and get the order.. i've seen it happen myself.. but this guy doesn't have the balls.. i was forced to live with him too.. he even lied about being drunk ffs... 3 beers does not = being drunk for 8 hours.. i dont care who you are :)
A suggestion - document dates/times of these sorts of incidents and any significant conversations you have had with this person - especially while it is fresh in your mind
It will help if there are any legal proceedingswhich may take some time and the memory dims a bit
If anything happens - a fight, property damaged, etc, go to the nearest police station and put it on record. Even if you're the one responsible.
Bear in mind that restraining orders can be contested and overturned. If he slaps one on you, see a lawyer and work things out.
This guy sounds like he has classic borderline personality disorder. I lived with one, and she drove me to a nervous breakdown. You can't help him: get him out of your life as quickly and cleanly as possible, and chalk it up to experience.
Quote from SperO: Haha he even fainted after being about three or four metres away from where a couple of people were smoking cones through a smokeless pipe.
Guys just to give you an idea of how sad he is... He has a couple of lvl 99 diablo characters on battle.net.. you know how much fucking time it takes to get that high.. he has no life..
Sper0 my advice to you is to get directly in contact with the parents if the order doesn't count for them. I'm not too sure, but check with a lawyer, but if the restraining order has been made public knowledge you could sue for defermation of character?.. maybe i dont know, but the restraining order implicates something on yourself that you have done something or a bad person to justify such an order. But if you can't be fucked don't worry about it, but i would seriously get that restraining order revoked somehow, because it will show up against your record now. - i think
Posting this here isn't actually going to help anything now, is it? Perhaps not the best course of action, eh. If you were after advice, you should have sought out professional advice.
I'm sure a dozen replies here calling him a loser achieved something.
This isn't our business, and you shouldn't be making it the publics business. Locked.
