I have gotten sick of using a table cloth as my gaming surface. i was wondering what some of the more the casual gamer use for there mouse surface and why they think it is good.
I will most likely to be getting either a logitec 500mx or 510mx shortly in the future. Mainly cause I thought Unseen's mouse to be delivered is dead sexy.
MX 500 with Teflon Tape. (Inc. with mousepad) on a Steel pad 4D.

I like the func pads...but I use a felt pad from eb
MX500 on steelpad 4D with no mouseskates
i like steelpad 4D better than funcs, similar surface but bigger

Is there a huge difference in material used between all the competing brands?

This is the mouse pad I want, unfortunately they are out of stock until June :( http://www.pccasegear.com.au/category44_1.htm . If anyone knows a place with them in stock I would be appreciative. I have looked everywhere I know of.

There's a shop around the corner from RMIT that has a few of them in stock. I'll send them over for "10. (Just your average 100% markup :grin: )

As for me I prefer sweet pair of my Logitech MX510 with padsurfers and Icemat Black 2nd Edition... Kick any ass solution =)
Steelpads are very good too... Especially the new "fUnk killer" -- Steelpad S&S (I saw one near my friend's rig).
If you're not using a Func Surface 1030 or Everglide Ricochet, you sure as hell better be using a SteelPad or IceMatt, otherwise you're gay.

pssssssssst... I`ve heard, that someone use table or bunch of paper. Fortunately I use Steelpad 4S ;)
I use a Ricochet, but have a Func just incase I snap it during a game of CS:S in an outburst of rage. However, the Steelpad is definately better for people using Microsoft mice -- unless you have teflon feet on your MS, meaning get the Func. ;)

OMG! Who cares what mousepad is used as long as you can play games and generally use your mouse....
I have the ricochet also. got it from scorptec

Go go red :D :D. I use some bit of plastic i found in one of those Green shopping bags you can buy. It's good but i might buy a real one soon. This one only cost me $2 and i got a free bag :D

Well some mice don't work well with certain mousepads, which is where threads like these come in handy knowing what the majority use and how well whatever they use works
And to get back on topic, I have an everglide richochet. Rec's just one of those special people that can manage to be gay no matter what mousepad he uses :P
well.. ya'll go the easy option and get red.. i'll go the hard yards and get blue.
I use a custom mousepad I built myself....It has a clear glass surface ocer a piece of brushed aluminium. Between the aluminium and the glass is a piece of blue felt that mouse uses to pick up movement. Is very smooth very big and very nice :D

Func + teflon feet *drooooools* I remember when I got teflon feet and the pad for first time, put the feet on and spun my mouse around on the pad (MX700) and it spun so many times I lost count :mad: It also became so sensitive that I had second lowest windows sensitivity and lowest (1.0?) sensitivity in CS. Damn that was some freaky stuff :D

Fairly safe to assume you have never had a good mouse pad before. Go try one out, sure it sounds like the most silly of things, but damn its amazing what a good mousing surface can do. Hey only $30-50 or so, not much.

I was a mouse pad skeptic as well...wondering exactly WTF every one was carryong on about...then I bought a sheet of Aluminium plaet for a project and had a bit left over, so I cut a 30cm square from it and could never go back to using a desk again. What I use now is far removed from that plate, but it made me believe all the hype about mousepads...they DO make a difference.
