Well I logged onto my Gmail account today and I was surprised to see that I had 6 invites for Gmail... I got nobody else to offer them to so I figure that the first 6 people to post their Name and an email that works I'll send to...

Thanks Leonami, works a treat! Using GmailFS to mount the 1Gb share as a filesystem on my linux PC. Apache then serves that content. Using their space and bandwidth... free 1Gb webhosting :)

on the left hand side, under all the links for inbox compose etc, there should be a little bit of text in red saying something like "invite 6 friends to join gmail" or something along those lines. you won't get it if you just signed up, my invites didn't come up until after a couple of days.

can i ask why the hype? i mean my hotmail (not that i use it much) does not get spam anymore once they offered spam filter. octa4 still gets virus attachments and spam but that cause they are iinet now and they suck balls.

gmail loads in a couple of seconds. hotmail seems to take a week in comparison. the interface is plain and simple, no stupid graphical buttons and flashy gifs. it thrashes hotmail in all areas of usability. and i'm glad you dont get spam on hotmail, i do. and even with the harshest possible spam settings it STILL gets through, and there's no room left in the block list.

hotmail is in the process of upgrading everyone to 250mb storage. i really suggest you have a look at gmail, if you want an invite, let me know.

i find g-mail a hell of alot faster to operate. i can open e-mails in a second compared to the ~15 seconds it takes hotmail. sending things from one folder to another happens in a flash. its on speed i swear.
i still prefer my hotmail address as i have had it for 6 years :D

For Dial-uppers Gmail is uncomparable to any other mail service...
If you ask me, its not really the 1 gig that really matters. Its the fact that its fast, clean and sounds damn cool to have that appeals. Hotmail will probably never compare to it even if it offers 250mb
