i still think it'll bounce along the coastline towards us.. maybe.. just maybe we can hope it'll tag around cape don or the bathurst islands and give us sweet sweet rain.
It wont keep heading Northwest for too long - some models had it NW till around don then SW like tracy and thelma. Too hard to tell too accurately at this stage. Suffice to say that all cyclones like to spin towards the poles due to The Coriolis Effect

Nhulunbuy was hit early morning few homes were hit by falling trees no structure damage to any main buildings Clean up is underway to remove all the fallen trees 1 person lost his yaht another found his on the rocks down by east woody (beach in nhulunbuy) few cars damaged No one reported hurt or missing but still to early to tell if there was any injuries. so far damage report is looking good no1 hurt

Yeah I'm a bit worried too, living 4 stories up. Not my fav place to be if a Cat 5 comes strolling through. Might have to start thinking about an evac plan for if we do get hit.

I have to admit I was a bit stubborn with things like cyclones, I remember running a muck on the streets with friends when Thelma was around, probably a bit more mature now so i'd be a little more ready, dont think id evac though, probably just go shelter if it got that bad, i'd rather be close to home and be there to help if anything did go bad (assuming im not in a bad situation already) :P

The VERY DESTRUCTIVE CORE of SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE INGRID with wind gusts near 320 kilometres per hour is expected to move towards the coast near GOULBURN ISLAND early Sunday morning, in the next 6 to 9 hours. The cyclone is expected to cross the COBOURG PENINSULA coast early Sunday morning south of CROKER ISLAND before moving into the VAN DIEMEN GULF during the day on Sunday.
DESTRUCTIVE WINDS with gusts to 160 kilometres per hour are expected to develop along the north coast near GOULBURN ISLAND in the next 3 to 6 hours, and extend west to CROKER ISLAND early Sunday morning.
