given my affiliations you can take this with a grain of salt if you so desire; but i would steer clear of dell, their support is becoming worse and worse. if something goes wrong with your purchase, have fun talking to tech support in india.
another one to steer away from in darwin/northern territory at least, is asus. they 'dont consider the nt important enough to have a service agent here'
If local supply, service and an australian accent are important to you all then buy Viewmaster laptops. They are repaired here in NT and you can get a decent warranty on them too.
Dell warrenty sucks, and it doesnt help when the laptops get strange problems too. The dell in our office has been fixed twice, and it takes so long, that the last time it broke, insted of sending it back yet again, we went out and got a new toshiba. TTS are the resellers of toshiba laptops now i think, as well as the repair center (thats what they said, but i wont know until it breaks i guess). But as far as toshiba laptops go, we have 2 7 year old tecras that are still going great, and havent broken once. I *think* HP also have a repair center in Darwin but i dont doubt you have to go through India somewhere to find that out. All i know is that they supply me with tablet computers, and fix them if they ever break heh.
i dont trust anything Hallmark/Viewmaster touch simply because i work with them on a daily basis that being said the Toshiba Tecra A2 laptops thay have are friggn brilliant. but i supose thats due to the fact that hallmark dont build them.
Quote from Burk: just not sue how much they do there and how much is done in india.
India pisses people off, then we try and make them happy again. A vicious circle i could really do without.......
But yeah logging the call is the only hard part. HP has good support and hazard a guess at saying we have the greatest amount of spare parts actually IN Darwin of all the vendors(For our enterprise range). If not it's always overnighted.
i have had a toshiba satelite 1800 for about 3-4 years now. I got the 3 year extended warienty on mine when i brought it new. It was the best thing for me becasue i finally got my own computer. So i played games on it non stop and casue i have no air con the over heat cutout would turn the computer off after about an hour of gameplay which is fair enough! But ignoring this and turnin it on straight away would make it cutout a whole lot quicker. Becasue of the eventually the cpu or mobo would eventually giv in. Since then i have fried 4 mobo/cpu and all have been replaced under warienty at CSG which is the nt service agent. Also treated the flopy drive and dvdrom like shit and had them replaced. After about 2.5 years the batterie died becasue of heavy use (which is reasonable life for a batterie) also that was replaced. Aslo got frustrated playing games one day and hit the keyboard a little hard and busted a few keys which were once again replaced. I have kept all the service stickers on the laptop and i think i have 6 on it which i my personal clame to fame down at CSG. Since then i have stoped palying games on it mainly becasue it is to slow but it is still going fine today never had a problem since. So now makes a good web server / word processor. For service like that i cant complain at all so i would have to recomend toshiba in the nt.
I think the prices (for us) sound pretty awesome! I'm looking at purchasing a 6600GT or X800. Do you stock these at all. Do you have a website?
You should be careful about posting this. Maybe people should have to be a member for a certain amount of time? Cos otherwise you might get a flock of people signing up for cheaper parts.

i do not normally stock the 6600gt's or the x800, however, the one i quoted with the price... i do have that one coming into stock... im trying to get it today *once i contact my supplier and find out the con note number* otherwise it will be in monday or tuesday. If you want a price on an x800, give me a PM of what you want
Hi, do you have a website or price list to go over? I'm thinking of buying that 6600GT, looks pretty good :). Will you be at DGA? Also what version is that card? The GV-NX66T128D or the GV-NX66T128VP? A quick google search for GEF6600GT only returned Gigabyte graphics cards.
