- Battery standby: 400 hours This is something i really want to get mainly cause its like my current phone (t630) but with more features and a whopping 2megapixel camera!! just waiting for RRP to fall below the $450 mark
I've seen them go for 500-550 on ebay stores, if you hung around and waited for a bargain auction you could probably get it for under 500. Only if you feel confortable buying from ebay though, and alot of them ship from hong kong.
If you're purchasing a phone, in my opinion, it doesn't particularly matter where you buy it from. Sure it won't be Austel/Austick approved and you'll have no Australian warranty, but like, it's a phone. :/
I've bought the majority of my handsets from Hong Kong... shitloads cheaper, and if you're the person that'll be upgprading every 12-18 months you should be fine, just resell it on Ebay second hand.
Only one of the numerous phones I've bought from Hong Kong attacted extra fees via customs, but it all depends on how the sender sends it. My other phones have rocked right up to my door step without being tied up anywhere else, and with no extra charges.
I think it has something to do with charges based on insurance (percentage of total cost) and customs handling... but can't really be sure, was too long ago now.
cow: im fairly sure 3 mobiles can't take normal sim cards. could be wrong though, and there could be soft or hard mods you can do to them to make them take normal sims.
well i've just gotten my hands on (well, it comes this sunday) on a k750i, aussie version for $400. booyah! mum's husband has a friend who works in a mobile phone shop...and it didn't fall off the back of a truck
Aha. Ok well that conclusive evidence just proves that all sony phones are shit and that sony will never make a decent phone. Thanks so much.
/sarcasm.
Your friend threw a couple of hundred dollars worth of phone at a wall? I can see why she hangs around you. Care to elaborate on why sony phones are so bad? You seem to be the only person I have ever spoken to who says this so I am genuinely interested.
I have been a die hard nokia supporter since the 5110. have had 5 different nokia's and am, looking at moving to the W800i. i have several friends with ericsson's and every one of them are still singing their praise (off key of course.)

In my opinion, changing phone brands is like having to learn a new culture. I mean different lingo, different shortcuts and methods for doing stuff. Nokias are so god damn overpriced but I find myself sticking with them because its what I know and I'm efficient at using them.
I hear very good things about Sony Ericssons and even hear they are better than nokias in terms of bang for buck (I spose any company is really) but god damn it would be a bitch having to relearn all your basics... If you switch to sony smurf I want to know how it goes with your nokia skills...
If u wanna know how durable a K750i is, i can tell u that its kinda water proof lol, friend dropped his into the pool, picked it up, it was off for about an hour and turned back on again when it dried up, i cant believe it happened but, i believe its pure luck :p
Work just upgraded mine to a K750i...and my personal phone just got upgraded to a Sharp GX30i...luckily both are bluetooth. I haven't got my new Sony yet buy from what I have read it sounds pretty good. And now to get the Knightrider theme for my ringtone...:-D
http://www.myt610.lasyk.net/subsearch/knight%20rider/3/1/T610-Ringtones-knight%20rider-page1.html There ya go jug. Best place to get free ringtones IMO. Although i have had the same one since 2003 cause i like my itchy and scratchy tone :)
Here is a pic I took today with my one megapixel Sharp GX30i. It's on a low setting, 480x640, which is the default setting. Anyway I thought it was good quality for one megapixel.
I should have my K750i on Monday Knight, I will try and take the same pic again and post here. This beach is about 5 mins drive from my place so shouldn't be a problem.
attached pic is from my sharp gx20 a few weeks ago, and the three here are from nightclubs as requested, went to the city last night and got very....wasted...they were taken at 2MP on a fine setting, i just resized them in photoshop
Sony Ericsson K750i ftw! Not the best setting for a photo but both were taken within seconds of each other, which is as "controlled environment" as I can be bothered with.
All in all, the Sony is the better phone. The menu is easy and logical, battery life is good. I use it in the car a lot with a Logitech HS02-V Bluetooth Headset.
Best feature? Being able to put any MP3 I want as my ringtone, message alert and alarm.
them sony cyber shot cameras dont last long when you drop them on carpet an the damn thing was in a protective holder cover thing ****ing cheap ass sony shit.
damn lens wouldnt come out after it only fell a metre of a dam coffee table
man i don't think there are many electrical devices around that would last long when you drop them....
My dad went out and bought one of these today and I have to say that it is a very nice phone... I'm slowly being convinced by this phone that nokias are gay. I mean the interface on the nokias is better but its not worth the extra "00 you pay for less features.

Wow, those piccys are sexy. Go 750i. Also korny you are a twat. clearly 750i's are awesome. the only thing you ever complain about sony for is that they can't withstand your retardedness. i'm sure they'll bring out a stupidity-proof version of their camera soon don't worry.
I was under the impression that the w800i was just a k750i that is more optimised for playing music and comes with a bigger stock memory card. I'm not even sure they are out in australia yet either...
I can vouch for the above info, Od has the new toy, and apart from some hopelfully beter firmware on the handset, it is a similar size shape and function, but totally orientated to the personal entertainment device end of the market. Pretty positive it comes with a 512 stick rather than 750i's standard 64 mb, and it can go to 4 gig stik whereas the 750 has a limit atm of 1 gig (but only after a major software upgrade) Apart from that i recommend that no one buys a "Branded" handset (ie optus, vodaphone) as the software they load on is painful to remove and takes up far more room than the standard software for generics, and is much more prone to failure in the menus and basic functions.
I just got a W800i. The sound quality (with the headset (included)) is awesome. I was gonna buy an mp3 player last month. Glad I didnt bother. Even without the headset the sound is resonable, but you wouldn't really listen to it that way but its good having "Scotty doesn't know" for a ringtone. Having an actual zoom and light on the camera is handy to. If any of you guys are interested in this phone you can have a look at it at the LAN.
