Sorry people, the people we have to speak to about the Chan have to discuss it with Minister Burns to see if we can have it again.
We are expecting to hear back from them any time now.
DGA will let everyone know more when we know ourselfs.

DGA will not be going ahead next weekend (20-21st Aug) like we were hoping to do.
To cut a long story short DGA are in negotiation with the Minister about the Chan building, we are trying to secure this venue and make it the new home of DGA which is taking a bit of time with letters and discussions going backwards and forwards.
Although we have no dates for the next LAN set we planning one for a late August or very early September one, it all depends on how out proposal to the minister goes.
DGA are very sorry that we don’t have dates worked out yet, but as soon as we know them you guys will be informed.

Thats no problem, i wasted all my money this week already unfortunately, but luckily! The lan aint this weekend yay! Anyhow, i understand how hard it is to get a venue booked for a lan, becuz you gotta go through all the rules of like, Yes we'll make sure nothing happends and also have to make sure its not double booked and stuff or this that and the other :p like the whole thing with no drinks on the carpet which didnt exactly get listened to last time :(

it's looking good, I spoke to the Ministerial Assistant and some other chap last week. The Minister has all the information he needs, just has to sit down and make a decision now.
We just thought it was too close to wait for a decision this week and then organise the LAN this weekend.. so obviously, we've postponed.
We will hold one as soon as possible, we're all waiting for a LAN too!

So install all your games when you buy them and this wont be a problem. And if you get the cracks before you leave home it will save having to carry around a crapola of CD's. Nothing worse than switching out CD's at a LAN just to play a different game.

- Instructions relevant to any aspect of DGA event, given by any DGA administrator, must be followed".
Restrictions
- Unless given permission, no person may interfere with another person's possessions while at a DGA event. DGA administrators are excluded from this rule when it is necessary to use, adjust or interfere with an attendee's property for safety, power or network performance reasons.
- Permission must be obtained from a DGA Administrator to install a Games Server, File Sharing Server and the alike into a DGA network. If approved, you will be expected to follow the directions and rules given by an Administrator.
- Speakers are not permitted under any circumstances. Only head phones are to be used.
- The use of projectors or consoles are not permitted without authorisation from an Administrator.
- Abusive or intimidating behaviour, along with verbal or physical abuse or harassment, will not be tolerated. Administrators reserve the right to eject any person upon these grounds.
- Persons are not to excessively use the Netsend command.
File Sharing
File sharing will only be done via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) . There will be multiple clients and servers available for use. Persons sharing large amounts of files via windows file sharing will be asked to switch off and use FTP sharing.
Pornographic Material / Non-Gaming Graphical Violence
The viewing of pornographic material and extreme graphical violence material will not be tolerated at DGA events.
Smoking
No smoking is permitted inside DGA venues. Smoking is only permitted on the grass areas. All cigarette buds must be placed in ashtrays DGA provide NOT IN THE BINS.
Alcoholic Consumption / Illegal Drugs
Alcohol is not to be consumed by any person under the age of 18 years. People caught drunk and disorderly regardless of age maybe asked to leave the premises. Illegal drugs of any kind are not permitted. Darwin Gamers Association reserves the right to inform police of any illegal drugs or drunk disorderly attendants.
Skateboards
Skateboards are not permitted.
Drop Off and Pick Up of Computer Equipment
Parking and drop off is only permitted in designated areas.
Fire Safety
All persons are to familiarise them selves with fire exits at the current venue. In the case of a fire all persons are to leave equipment behind and exit the building to a safe distance.
BREACHES OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN BANS OF FUTURE DGA EVENTS

basically, we allow FTP sharing. If it is found to be degrading the network performance (and therefore affecting gaming) we may ask you to switch it off till later in the evening.
What you share isn't our concern, If any illegal software, kiddie porn, graphical violence, etc is reported to us, then we will act upon such information, and act upon it seriously, don't doubt that..
EDIT: also, remember the viewing of any porn (kiddie porn or not) at DGA is not permitted. That's what your house is for.

not sure how old you are, but Porn is definately not available to minors at DGA.
If it is the 'provider' will be cautioned and asked to password protect the 18+ material and only provide that password to 18+ at their request.
This has been the system we have been trying to get going for a few LANs.
And ALL FTP servers must be password protected regardless of what they contain.
