Well guys and girls, what did u think... Please tell us things u liked or didn’t like...

Thought it was awesome! as it always is....
But as usual for me I was required to depart early... (parents)
I would have liked to have a more organised game of FarCry...
Hi guys,
Thank you very much to the sponsors of DGA espically OMEGA for the great prizes they gave! Only suggestion could have been if we got to finish the CSS comp after the power had been turned off.
I LOVED WATCHING TEKKEN! we need to find someone who can beat Brain so we can all laugh at him.
When someone from Darwin can beat Brain at tekken the bowels of hell will freeze over and the end of the world will be nigh...
ive beaten him
Quote from K_I_Z_A:
ive beaten him
Yes, but you are the end of the world.
played pretty average in the cs comp, was knocked off after 7 rounds or something. Only played one map and only played one side. Cs-S comp was pretty average.
Kiza, my barrel of Chupa Chups says otherwise :P
seriously tho, any time you want Kiza, propper tourney play, 150% health 75 seconds, no block damage, best of 3 bouts, cant use the same char twice...
Any time.
And leonami, there are a few around who can compete with me, well, I realy enjoy it when I get to face them, and they say the same thing.
LOL i think brain dance deserved them :p but then again maybe im only saying that cos he gave me tons of them :p.... on a personal note though i thought this Dga being my first since the EVo was pretty good.. had so much fun playing CS i so own that game :p.... *blushes well not really* hahahahaha :Ds
I had fun, even if I wasn't using a computer :P Would've liked to have stayed longer, with my computer.
omg theres more gamer chicks going to DGA now?!?!?!?!
LOL... and is that a bad thing? :p
Hey, I gave everone heaps :P
I personally went to every attendee and offered them some.
Who says I am not a gracious winner :)
(even tho I was waaaaaay to over confident, almost to the point of arrogance :P )
Quote from leonami:

My first DGA lan... I think I was one of about 3 chicks there :P I only went because my bf did... [Image: http://www.golivewire.com/images/emoticons/rolleyes.gif]
Who won the monitor?
Quote from DVD:
Who won the monitor?
Brownie did.
Jip!!!
Dam, missed this one, had to work alllll weekend. Will catch the next one though, even if it's the last thing I do....
how often are these LANs?
Roughly on average once every 4 to 6 weeks.
CSS comp kinda died because everyone was too interested in Tekken. Played Deathball and that was more fun :) thanks for a good lan.
Tekken was probably the best comp they have had in ages. Really brought some life back into DGA. Just make sure you have another tekken comp next lan :0
Quote from Xaine:

cool I'll DEFINATEY be coming to the next one :D
CS:S comp did die after the first round but with the power going out at that early stage, and most not really wanting to continue there was not really much point.
Although, I would've liked to pwn kate some more.
Overall I thought it was a good LAN. I must, however, stress that next time we will not be so lenient on people that show up and expect to be able to set up their computer without first paying. Unfortunately, the admins at the door cannot be everywhere at once and I, personally, don't like having to chase people up as it disturbs your gaming and stops us from doing other, more important things.
Sounds like people are still trying to get something for nothing.
Even at the almighty DGA.
I had a great time too, meet some new people ;) played some old games, Revolt, Far Cry (knifed neotheo a few times) that made me happy all in all I had a fun time.
Hats of to Mr Eater for fixing the power quickly, good work mate.
p.s. Brownie sucks balls ;P
Was awesome! Tekken 5 was the bomb, Ill practice next time! just wait! ill win next time! muahahahaaha *cough cough* (yeah right)
was quite alot of new faces at this lan really hehehe.
I was guilty of walking in and setting my computer up, before paying... I was under the impression that this was allowed and that we could pay after we were set up.
personally, this was one of the best dgas i've ever been to. numbers were good (around 76 i believe), the timetable was good, and the chupa chupa challenge absolutely went OFF, and there was good times to be had by all.
congrats to Brain for taking home the tin of chupa chups, and also congrats to My_Plague and Kyal for taking out the partner challenge - which they did by defeating the feared Brain/Rusty team in the final bout. we had 28 people competing in the challenge, and you have no idea how great it was to hear people screaming in the close matches, like when Urit fought back to win his first bout. Brain has already hit me with a number of excellent ideas for the next one, so the DGA 38 chupa chup challenge should be even better.
also want to thank darwin wireless for their work in setting up a link to the greek school and giving us net access. stay tuned for how this will affect future events. also massive ups to the mesh guys for their efforts in updating the dga server and keeping it running throughout the lan.
kudos to Omega/Hallmark for their two excellent prizes which they kindly donated. The 17" LCD went to Brownie, while i believe the hard drive went to Dan Van Crone. also want to thank Ant (Deus_Ex_Potentia) for his kind donation of an ADSL modem, which went to Brain. thanks also go to Projection Plus for the projector they generously lent us.
on an admin side of things, i want to thank eater for the amazing amount of work he put in before, during and after the lan - it simply wouldn't have happened without him. thanks go to seqo and toasthall for managing the the front desk and controlling the hordes of eager gamers. cheers to neotheo for his excellent game servers, and to phoenix for his tech assistance and general adminning* prowess.
had an absolute blast, and hope to see you all again and dga 38.
*may or may not be an actual word
Bin runs would have been nice. They were full after 6 or so hours and only got worse. No toilet paper in the toilets was also bad when you need to go. :|
Gaming was good, Death Ball was a blast.
Back to work now for me.
stop being such sexist nerds and more chicks will come :P
If you go to lans for chicks, you're a bloody loser... Unless the chick is your girlfriend, then that's different.
Brain, I look forward to booting your ass in Teken.
I have before, and will again.. But the next one should be Dead or Alive, or Soul Calibur.
It should be soul calibur though. ^_~
Sadly, I registered but wasn't able to make it... Spending the evening before trying to get my new computer online, I didn't finish until 2:30AM only to need to get to work by 6AM... Not enough sleep... And I was very tired, wouldn't have survived carrying my now 30Kg's plus case.
next lan...
morrrrrrrrtttttttttallllllll commmmmbattttttttttt
FINISH HIM!
FATALITY!
TOASTY!

It did? Might want to check that.
Paladin sent me an abusive SMS because I allegedly won a HD at DGA. And because he's a knobshiner.
YOU'RE a knob
You're both Knobs :)
So sit down before I pull out my photo collection ...I got a great one of Dan in his heavy metal , long orange hair days and a great one of a young 25KG Kane diving around a court somewhere :)
Grats DGA sounds like your on the way back up, good stuff.
Chad won the HDD. Congrats ;)
Ivo, afaik it's a rule that you pay before setup. Some people are just not honest enough, or want to try and slip in for free. This is the only way we can make it so that those people aren't getting in for nothing whilst everyone else has to shell out their money.
Steve, I agree with the Soul Calibur sentiments ;)
Quote from Seqo:

thats what i meant
Very Good for me apart from "BF2 bug # 61,893" aka <no default gateway> causes blank screen when starting...grrr
Power outage response.. shit happens and had a laugh or three with the hackysack anyway. So wasn't an issue for me (what was the cause anyway ?).
Also noticed that everyone took it in their stride and didnt hear or see any complaints which was great to see.
Lots of BF2 was played albeit the most ppl at any one time was 14 with an average of 8 players so really didn't play like the BF2 I'm used to with 32 - 64 players (strategy changes significantly with more players).
I even started to get the hang of Deathball.. at last.. scored a goal and was on a winning side....LOL
Farcry - I think DeathMatch in any game is #@$!@$ but thats just my 3 cents worth. TM is much better.
CSS - Ok but wish it wasn't so repetitive for some us : eg see enemy / BAM / your dead / wait for round restart / see enemy / BAM / your dead / wait for round restart / see enemy / BAM / your dead / wait for round restart ......
Tekken 5 Challenge - Seeing as I hadn't played since v1 (to years ago) I at least won a round - just but got hammered in the last 2 rounds.. It was good though...
Thanks to all involved with DGA37 as it was mucho funno and had a good vibe to it.
The power went out because a phase dropped.

My locks! My beautiful locks! That's ok - I think I've still got your Master of Orion 2 CD. HA! HA! HA! I bet you've been looking for that!
loved the lan...
cant wait for next lan
Deathball tourney next time I reckon :)
DEATHBALL tourney would be... THE BEST.. EVER
5 v 5 ... OMG.. OMG .. OMG
:DMy real say about this DGA :D
This DGA was a blast! Everyone was having fun, few people got a bit bored and left earlyish i think, quite alotta new faces to me, but of course ive only started attending since EVO 5 at the start of the year, anyhow, no one played Counter-strike Source which was anoying me a bit, but alotta people were playing CS 1.6 which was very new to me.
Anyhow, Tekken 5 was madness! The whole room for about 2 hours was filled with yelling and screamin, Brain was physking out his allies with his distracting comments :p and other than that, it rocked!
Battlefield 2 was cool, Garou was very anoying with those jets of his seeming hes very bloody good with em hehe, i mainly stuck with the Helicopters and usualy and mostly got blown outta the air by Garou ONLY! Lived a hell of alot longer on land really.
Deathball, didnt play it cause im not really a fan of it, its not exactly my thing and i couldnt be bothered installing Ut2004.
FarCry was cool, Mungus won every round i think.
Anyhow, my overall i'd say, Excelent DGA people! Was great! Thanks to Brain and his generousity (however you spell it again) he gave everyone a Chupa Chup so that everyone could have a peace of his victory hehehe.
Have another Tekken 5 Comp at the next DGA, it was great and if everyone knows before hand, they might play it and practice to try and stop Brain from winning! :D Im gonna practice a ton just to try and match him hehehehehe! :D
well the thread was there for a couple weeks beforehand, so if you were really serious you had plenty of time to practice :P
HOWEVER - i'll probably try to avoid having the next challenge based on a fighting game. think different. like really different :)
what about a uhh, Halo 2 match next time :p im pretty sure everyone will be kinda bad at that :D unless brain decides to shed his glory over that game 2 :p with constant phsyching at his opponent :D
or better yet, hmmm, a Jugganaut Match in Halo 1, whoever scores the highest :D that isnt a bad idea i reckon
you're not thinking different enough
mario party :D
twister
Ddr :)
donkey kong rap my little half sister has that :D
that game is funny
Quote from Knight Of Nih:
Ddr :)
Its a funny game to watch but probably not very good for a chupachup challenge... the playing field would be so out of whack...
What about something like mario kart double dash? I mean its fun and cool and you can have teams...
No have another tekken 5 comp >_<
DGA37 was great, but you need to get the Chan Building back. I know you guys tried, but try again!

Its not looking though we can atm... Anyone know anyone high in NTG that could help us out?
Oh shit yeah! The fishing game from Namco on the Dream cast! I'll bring the pink dreamcast along! ^O^
Big thanks to the Atendees of DGA, mostly well behaved and reasonably clean (however if i have to pick up one more bloddy chupa chupa stick....) Big thankyou to the Darwin Wireless Group for getting the Link up, and a big thankyou to the Mesh boys for getting the Link to talk to the LAN. Big thanks to the Admin Crew for helping put it all together then pull it apart at the end. Big thanks to Omega/Hallmark for thier excellent prize donations, they were fantastic and well recieved (even if it was damn Brownie ;) )
I would like to get a bit of feedback on the ticket=food idea and see if we cant epand that a bit further. Toasthall made mention of a breakfast arangement, ill look into that too, along with a hot dog LAN as well.
Power issue was the Red phase fuse shitting itself at to much load, bit of load balancing, new fuse, and we were back up and running fairly fast. Was good to see that even with no power the attitude stayed good and well natured.
But yeah thanks to all ;)

What department did you have to deal with to arrange getting the Chan Building last time?
Dan, you have 20 hours to return my CD or i'm going to run you over as you cross the Mitchell St lights crossing there every morning. :)
And RE: the Chan, its not the people you spoke to that are the problem, its the people you chose to speak for you that got them offside badly. I put in a good word for Sponge if it helps at all.
A letter was written to Minister Burns about the Chan Building.. other than that there was no real dealing with anybody.. so i don't know what you're on about CoCo.
After their decision I asked and received further information as to why they didn't want us holding events at the Chan... and I received it. I don't see how they got offside, infact I never even got the impression that they were offside.

I'll be supporting the whole building in a month or so.
I'll see what I can do Sponge. :)

i could get my dad to talk to her.
i said this once b4
so when are you going to do it Bucky? :D
ok when do u want the next lan to be
i can start talking to them asap
Speak with Metal or Burk Bucky.
I think they have someone following it up now but more never hurts.
ok ill do that ill also see if my dad can sweet talk them
also when r the pic that were taken going 2 be up
dga37 was my first ever lan and i just gota say i loved it, except for forgeting to bring extra clothes cause all i had was a singlet shorts and thongs, :( but other than the below 0 degrees room temp i had a blast, i mostly enjoyed bf2 and farcry and gave good ol sniper a run for his money...not really
I think one thing we need to do is ban Garou from ever flying a jet again. :P
Woohoo! My mobo's arrived! I can play BF2 again!
... oh hang on - LAN's over ...
OD.. join the ICDU team speak channel for some bf2 action tonight :)
The Tekken comp was great. But I think Brian and me should have played the final, best 2 out of 3. Also, SCREW the Chan building. I noticed alot of you guys enjoying a drink (which is your want). Not possible in the Chan building.
Yeah but at the Chan Building there's a few pubs just across the road! Kitty's makes a good spot for a break from the gaming methinks. *nods*

Letters only convey so much... What you need is a convincing speaker (preferably a 'community minded youth') arrange a time with the minister and make the requests in person. Heck I'll even do it provided that its sometime after my exams. Even just a phone chat with the minister... But it has to be something more concrete than letters...
And instead of all this hush hush secrecy with these matters you could broaden the channels to those who want to listen. I mean we are a community here and together we probably have more sway than just a single Public officer of an association.
Oh ohoh ohohohohoh! i know a good idea for the next chupa chup challenge! that dancing game on Ps2 or watever!!!! :p thatll get ppls adrenalin pumping hehe, get the mats n stuff, might sound rather lame but it may be cool hehe
How about old school...
Double Dragon!

That's that Beyonce song with Jay Z isn't it? ISN"T IT?
I'm sorry...I hear it ten times a day at work...I'll be good now I promise.
How about eyetoy 2 on PS2 for the chupa chup challenge. lmao, wouldn't that be a laugh or two...
I enjoyed it, played a bit of far cry...and thats it. I was hoping to leech most of my anime back, but i couldn't find any (besides n3 and tachi's :D)
I maybe able to speak to Mr. Burns (he's office is the same building as my shop) so i'll see if i can help out too, since i miss out on how good the chan building was...
Also, thanks BrAiN DaNcE for the chupa chups, too bad i missed out on it, would have been good.

Knight suggested it... I told you it would be unfair...
I whore the machine up here and can do 8 and 9 footer heavy... if I were to come along you'd all lose dismally... there are like 3 people in darwin better than me at DDR (at least that i know of)... And theres no real way to handicap those that are really good...

blindfolds. alcohol. arms tied together. plenty of ways.
blindfolds is too extreme... i'm pretty sure that everybody that whores ddr like I do is underage so drinking is out... arms tied together still doesn't totally stop the pwnage...
What I meant to say is that theres no legitimate way to handicap them short of barring them from the comp which would be gay :p
three legged ddr. trust me, there are tons of ways to level the playing field
lol, four person team, each responsible for an arrow
Well if you get console versions I'm pretty sure you can't have different difficulties on both sides so with that locked into place a heavy player on light mode = pwnage and a light player on light mode = not so good at all... regardless of what kinda legitimate equalisers you think of the skill gap is just so freaking huge...
edit: anyways point being... something like that is too unfair...
Quote from paladin:
blindfolds. alcohol. arms tied together. plenty of ways.
Stop it, im aroused.
DDR is indeed the suggestion made to me, and partners is indeed the way i was looking at running it.
leonami ... differences in skill simply wont matter when theres two guys on the ddr pad with their legs tied together.
anyway. while to go until next dga. keep the ideas coming.

Would've had more, but I went home early :P
Hang on... Why does it need to be a computer game? Why not have something that is completely UNRELATED to the computer/console?
it doesn't.. one idea we had, which we haven't done yet, is a paper plane flying contest.
nvm
LAN was fun..... i would like extend a thanks to cannon fodder for helping with my comp..... it was stuffing up how BAD.... and thhnx for making that dedicated CS 1.6 server that i owned that s**t out of... i demoed that and i was funny to watch
..... even i thought i looked a bit suss.... SNIPER as if i hak ..... i dont need to hak to own u!!
and i owuld like to say WC3 was abit boring cos no one could present a challenge cept milamber :D ill own u next time tho.....
lolz i was joking besides i had a few to drink and and that u were only good at the Monopoly map. any ways it was good to play some old 1.6

This is broadly true, though it's important to continue to manage things through the committee. That's what they were elected to do.
I'm happy to put my politics aside if the DGA committee need any tips on lobbying.
Why not be tricky and go to the opposition leader, request the chan building through him/her (no idea these days)... ultimately it would be the government in power to make the final decision... but imagine the News Headlines if they refuse :P
ROFL what opposition?
Quote from IvoMan:

You'd get page 8 - maybe - in a small article down the bottom.
My advice is to deal directly and only with the government. If requests start coming from opposition members in any capacity other than as local members, DGA will be marked as a hostile organisation and it will get diddly squat.
Quote from El Presidente:

Well to my understanding, The only reason why the Government would give the Chan building is because DGA is a non-profit organisation that caters for the youth of Darwin. Whilst its important to maintain management of things through the committee, lobbying the government through the youth would be complementary to this. I mean I personally would like to see DGA continue to thrive and cater for the youth and I personally believe that shifting premises to the Chan building and getting it without costs would help with that process...
It seems to me that there is a lack of assertiveness with this kinda thing. I mean how badly could it go if you do it all through the right channels but with more gusto... I mean worst thing is they don't give it to us. Best case scenario they give it to us free of charge. The benefits outweight costs...
leonami - leave it for now. It is in quite capable hands, and you're just going to have to trust the committee at this stage that they are actively working at this.
The youth of Darwin lobbying the government would be extremely counterproductive - I mean let's face it, how many turned out to last LAN? How many of those would "activley lobby" the government?
Do you know how annoying it is when a couple of flies keep buzzing around your head? ;-)
Once again, it is not a dead issue, so stand by to stand by.
leonami,
Young or old, greek, black, blue or aliens. If you vote and you represent a constituency who can be sucked up to, you can get a political ear.
One of the secrets of lobbying is that a concentrated and consistent takes things a long way. Ministers are only human and it helps if the same people turn up each time, because that makes things easier to remember. It also helps if somebody with an elected position turns up because it helps to give the impression that they are dealing above board - one of the nightmare scenarios for pollies is to be sucked into some petty sectarian spat within an organisation.
Look, I worked for a politician for 12 months where I was supervised by a former minister. He took the time to explain what it looks like from the other side. I would recommend that letting the committee do it as the committee is the best option. If you want in, ask the committee to co-opt or appoint you to this role at the next meeting.
SHIT YEAH! Paper plane flying contest! That'd be awesome!
