because i didnt see the need to create a new thread when their is already a number of them on here

you might not care but you cant speak for everyone else
i happen to like seeing what other systems guys on GU have and am interested in any new upgrades ppl get

as for how much i spend on my pc, lots of people spend a whole lot more than i do on hardware/mods and everyone has something they blow cash on, be it a car, a pc, a bike, etc so i dont really care

I think it's a good rig mepm. How much ram does windows report you as having? I could only get my 4GB to show 2.75GB. If I had enough room on my mobo I would buy the physx card. http://www.bfgtech.com/images/PhysX_spec_sheet.pdf

Post 40

While you guys are buyin new stuff
I'm trying to get my 14 yr old Amiga 1200 with .....wait for it....80 Mb H/d

2.96gb - although i know that it is definately using all 4gb as the ram has led activity lights on it and all 4 sticks r goin hard

apparently it has to do with the way windows xp 32bit reserves memory...xp 64bit does not have this problem

Post 43

it has to do with the pci bus reserving some memory. enable hardware remapping of the pci memory hole in the bios.

but apparently windows can gobble up a bit and misreport it as well. what does the bios report?

Post 44

The bios reports 4 GB. It took a couple of emails to gigabyte to find the secret area of the bios to change the "H/W mem Remap <4GB>" setting.

why? for lans thats why ;) - well probably not

Current and things on the change

Abit AV8 3rd-eye board
Amd 64+ 3200
Thermaltake Blue Orb II
2x215mb OCZ premier
1XWD 80Gb hdd - will be swapped for Raptor soon
2X 120 IDE Maxtors
X800 happiness - now to dance naked around the melting corpse of my 9800se :D
Logitech G7 mmmmmmm
Logitech wireless keyboard ( waiting for EB to get more G15's)
Some crap 5.1 sound card
Logitech X530 5.1 speakers
UV bling

Thermaltake Kandalf case w/430W psu (and more screws than i can use)

Might spring for an opty 165 in the near future but that will entail a bit more saving - and everyday my p/van gets furthur away from being finished, - ( for insidious) or being started - depends on how you look at it :D
