I've had it for a few days now, it seems pretty good, the initial set up is very baldurs gate'ish, the game play is pretty good so far, can rest to heal as long as no monsters are nearby and you have not exerted yourself too soon, camera angle can be controlled at ALL times by holding down the scroll wheel so you can get right into the action easily

Weapon selection is good, incorporates the two weapons at once from Diablo 2 (I'm sure there are other games, example only), fighting is good, you can do special abilities WHILE in the midst of a battle, has the cleave ability (cant remember which other game has that) which is AWESOME (wait I remember, pool of radiance???).

I highly recommend it for all you RPG fans out there

hate to pick, but dnd had 2 weapon fighting style long before diablo. single player is quite fun, but definately looking forward to tackling it multiplayer, and will be very interested to see what mods get released by people

Main problem with NWN is it's not *quite* 3rd edition DnD

as for multiplayer - no follow leader option (that i've found - might try reading the manual but) the server loads a lot (lots of pausing - might be me?) and the game goes on as if it's single player - but that may be a setting that i f*cked up on when i hosted :?

other than that it's not to bad a game - shoulda called it baldur's gate 3 tho

heh. i've had the rule books for *ages* just never read them, so i can't comment. i'm not sure if it's a blessing or curse not being familiar with the actual rules, but the game is fun

Yeah locutus and I have had it for a few weeks now, but i havent been able to play it yet as i havent got enough HDD space atm and havent had a chance to do anything on my computer since getting my wisdom teeth out

Post 7

stay tuned - gonna grab a legit copy of NwN so I can get the original instruction book and i'll organise some mini lans soon as I figure out how to use the GM module

Post 8

its in pdf format with the game also. spent the last oh shit, seems like 5 hours playing it, (finally found some spare time). its quite er, immersive.

Post 9

i know, but I want to be able to referr to the book while toying with the GM module :P I will grab an "evaluation" copy from you at some stage though :P

I like RPGs but didn’t like BG because firstly, reading sooooo many comments by characters during the game pissed me off. Second BG sometimes decided to not work anymore. Buggared if I know, but I have heard of other people having the same problem. The game decides that you have not got it installed anymore and instead of clicking play you only have the option of clicking install. Does NWN have this problem? Also do you have to read a shit load in NWN?

Post 11

there's certainly some in game dialogue to follow from time to time, if thats what you mean, but so far it seems more about running around and doing shit then running around asking questions.

I have a problem with the mouse pointer in the game menu. Its simply not there and extremely hard to navigate, anyone know how to fix it?

Post 13

i did notice my mouse pointer likes to get lost off the edge of screen in the menu's, but it never disappears completely

Post 14

Martok, or anyone with a voodoo,

do you have any trouble with NWN? my friends comp just goes to a white screen with no mouse pointer - makes it very difficult to select things

he's got a voodoo3

any help would be greatly appreciated (he's almost permanently on my machine now grrrr) :)

Post 15

Yes i have no mouse cursor in NWN. So i havent been able to play it cos it takes fucking ages just to make a character, without knowing where your pointing at :).

But i dont have a white screen. I can see the menu, and i managed to get into the actual game to play but i couldnt see where i was aiming for the person to move to.

Post 16

makes for a fun game on a voodoo huh? :P

Post 17

LOL, yeah it sure does, u gotta be quick on the mouse to avoid going somewhere you might not want to go :)

I've also had problems with the games America's Army and Spiderman, not liking the VooDoo cos it doesnt have T&L, which is useless, except for ensuring the survival of Nvidia in that if games are made to require it then Nvidia cards will be bought because they can do it (even though its the same as SSE)

Post 18

that tactic is what's known as asshole marketing - and theres nothing you can do about it :P

Post 19

cough.

Here's how to fix that. Edit your nwn.ini (or is it nwn.cfg) file in your NWN directory, and find this line:

Enable HardwareMouse=1

Change it to a zero. Problem solved :)
