Thoughts on a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with 128 Mb

Whats the brains trust opinion on a GeForce4 Ti 4200 ( 128 Mb RAM ) Video Card ?

And whats a reasonable price ?

i got that card i got it for about $350 - $380

Ta for that ... is it any good ?

I have the same card, and i am impressed with it, all games run smooth,
i got the VIVO card :)

Ti4200 are crap, i have an asus one and its shit !

I thought by upgrading from GF 2 ti to GF 4 4200Ti would improve my fps... i was wrong, now i'm pissed off cause it was $380 and i didn't need to spend.

Battle field plays with jaggies.. i upped it to 4xS it looks fantastic but of course the video card and system lags out of control. i turned it off and it runs..ok.. but the quality is shit as!

Save up for radeon 9700 or something.. dont waste the money..oh unless u only play cs then i guess it doesn't matter :P

so don't get an Asus one :P get a Leadtek or an MSI one instead :P

Well WTF!!!!, if you cant notice the difference then your wierd, unless of course your talking about FPS in CS, then you'd be stupid :P

But if you can't notice the difference then ...........

4xAA runs BF fine dude, everything maxed as well. And this is on a XP1700+ with 256Mb DDR.

Although If your going to get a vivo version of the Ti4200, and you dont really want the vivo, go for the Ti4400, its a little better especially memory wise, and you'll notice a better increase in fps in games like BF and UT2003

Rubbish - The Asus one has far better ram than the other cheapies - I o/c my asus Ti4200 to 300MHz without a drama at all.

I'd go for quality. Thats just me.

I've had bad experiences with Asus stuff, so I may be a little biased - I've never regretted buying anything from either Leadtek or MSI though, which is why I suggest them.

Ive had nothing but positive experiences - which is why I posted.

Obviously, your graphics card was not the bottleneck. I got about 90FPS in Q3A when I was running a GeForce DDR - I still get 90FPS in Q3A with my GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB, however now if I run 4xFSAA + anistrophic filtering I now get no performance loss.

Try upgrading your CPU.

I don't believe they're a bad company, I just got my fingers burned so I was suggesting an alternative - apologies if it came across diferently.

I swear by Gainward now.. I have 3 vid cards of their all running right now.. All are sweet as..
No getting the brands drivers, no quirkiness.. I just grab the latest Dets from nvidia.. And it works sweet..

Oh and Toppy, I run a GF4Ti4200 with 128Mb in this machine.. The card is brilliant..

Mine cost just over $300

I dont know how high I can clock it, never tried.. But Id say it would be high.. The GPU is watercooled and it has ramsinks as well..
And gainwards are reknown for their overclockability.. Just ask any regular at OCAU.

Well, I've got an ASUS GF4 Ti4600 Ultra Deluxe (the 128Mb DDR job with the massive copper heatsink).

Never had any performance issues with it. It's a beast, and I've been very happy with it. ASUS are expensive, though.

System Xp2000+, 768 Kingmax 266 DDR, Msi Kt3 Ultra Aru, Segate 60gig 7200rpm hdd, Asus GF4Ti4200, other crap but not important to performance. sufficent cooling.

Telstra (dodgy keeps going down and trying to do assignments) cable.

When i put AA on 4xS or anything for that matter and go and play battle field 1942. The writing where people chat is fadded or something, it looks really good and relly smooth but it chugs real bad. What can i do to make it better. I assumed it was the video card as everything else seems fine. Temps are in the mid to high 40s.

I turned V sync off and i have higest memory allocated to opengl and directx etc any ideas. ??

I run BF on 2xAA and it plays well, eg no jerking and looks great (Voodoo5).

9700Pro anti-aliasing is poor quality, its not really worth it for the price. :oops:

I OC mine 315MHz GPU and 560MHz Ram with no modifications to heatsinks and fan :twisted: and its an ultra cheap pixleview $350 when they were just out :twisted:

In other words GF4200 rule their price range :)

EDIT oh, and BF is nuts with graphics and screwes everything with its mouse laaag. So best to run it a medium everything, it will look crap but play better. I can run it at 1600 by 1200 with shadows turned off looks great, FPS r great but the mouse laaaag sux

OH dont bother with AA, its only there for crap cards that cant run at max res and it just causes more mouse lag in BF

Personally i dont know why the completed signal could be AAed after it has left the GPU ? so there wouldnt be any performance loss at all ??

Turn AA on and mavell at the smooth ness of everything :)
I noticed it straight away when i put it on 4xS and jumped into a plane. so smooth looking so glossy...but it lags thats why i was cut.. now i have to play it with jagged edges :(

Installed it last night - looks good so far - need to play with it a bit

So any hints/tips on a good set up ?

I got a Triplex Silver PCB ti4200 128Mb and I love it.

I get 11200marks on a Xp2100+ system with it (unclocked)
Same system with Saphire Radeon 9700 five 13500marks(unclocked)

Considering it's worth about half the $$ it's great

Yeah i have an asus 4200 deluxe, only cause it uses the same ram as the 4400 and 4600. Works like a treat and bf is beautiful on 4XS, so i dont know what probs you guys are having....unlucky i spose. :shock:

uNsPoKen I was having a softwate problem so I decided to re-install my GC and the AMD chipset drivers. The problem was the chipset, I had Windows problems so I put the CD in and repaired it. That removed the chipset drivers and my frames turned to shit. It's amaizing what they can do. Check yours or your cards drivers you may be surprised.
