tell us what you thought about the lan, gaming, and the venue

Post 2

The venue is a win, so much better than the Greek School.

Very handy to go out and do something different for a while while, and then come back in and continue with the games.

Post 3

The lan was good saw many gamers enjoying themselves.
I liked the venue was a handy walk to get a feed (or a beer). Also the aircon had a good even temperature. Sleeping on carpet is slightly better than cold tiles too :P

Seemed like BF2 went down well. I didn't play BF2 as my computer is too shit but played WarIII and had some fun. Network and power were solid the whole lan for me too. Good job DGA.

Post 4

I enjoyed it, great bf2 playing :)

Location: I liked the fact that the 24 hour shop was just up the road, nice even aircon (rather then hot/cold spots) and nice carpet too!

Post 5

I'd just like to take the time to reiterate:

Please DO NOT eat or drink in the gaming area. (Water is fine) There is a kitchen area and outdoor covered areas (as well as a nice park just outside) where you can eat and chat with others.

Thankfully most listened and abided by the rules for this venue and cleanup wasn't too bad. Thanks to all of those people and to all the gamers for keeping the toilets CLEAN. I was shocked and amazed at the state they were left in, far better than previous Greek School events.

I didn't game at all but I think the venue is tops and I look forward to going there again.

Cheers,
Seqo.

While not as frequent a DGA goer as many of you I've been to DGA and NTMGL events at the Greek School, Bridge Club, Uni and what not over the years and I definitely think this has been the best venue yet. I'll certainly more inclined to attend future events if they're at the Chan building.

Post 7

If the greek school want to screw DGA around than they can have there silly school to themselves :) Was a awesome location, had easy access to town, takeaway, 24hour coles. As for the lan itself, played a bit of warcraft III, did a bit of leeching. A very good lan a big up to DGA and staff.

Post 8

OMG i loved it, best I have been at for a while. BF2 for teh win

Post 9

I thought the Chan building was far better than the greek school, being able to head to the vic or wander over and get some 24h food was great, I thought it was better to not be eating and drinking near the carpet (I didn't even have to clean sticky coke off my cords) playing BF2 and UT2k4 plus Enemy Territory was a nice touch. I look foward to heading there again :)

Cheers
Rip

Post 15

Thanks Dan, no one at work at the paper :)

Post 16

Can someone check to see if the AGM dates are in there too?

Post 17

Post 18

No no that was just the hot hot sex that happens at all DGA LANS.

Post 19

Its a hint for the Venue holders .... ;)

Post 24

yes we are loved!!! woohoo!

You can see my monitor :D

Post 25

You can see me hugging Mungus :(

Post 26

*rubs nipples*

but yes. loved the new venue - as everyone has said; good location, nice aircon, nice facilities, plenty of space. BF2 got a hammering, with numbers peaking to around about 35 people in the one server i think. when numbers dropped on the second day, people started breaking out games such as ET, FlatOut. Even Worms Armageddon got a fair amount of play (among the admins at least :)).

was also definitely a better atmosphere too. is good to hear gamers shouting slogans at one another again such as "SLEEP-SLEEP!" and "OH MY GOD HOWIE HAX!".

good lan all.

Post 27

Noice. Just need a fridge then we can have some iced-coffee - Good job DGA.

Post 28

There was a fridge found.. but it had long life milk in there that expired a year ago..
This fridge waset on either.. and the last time someone was in the building was oct 2004...
:| got smelly!!

Post 29

Sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe ditching the headaches of the Greek School might be the best way forward.

Post 30

I thought the LAN was great and the venue was good but I didn't like not being able to eat or drink. I know thats unpopular opinion but I just like being able to have an iced coffee or coke at my desk. Having said that I realise why it was necessary.

Post 31

Yeah I was the opp I thought it was great just being able to drink water at the desks, and not having to lean on someone elses table and getting sticky hands ;)

by the way I think thats my boof head the the top left hand of the photo LOL
famous! after getting a few flash bangs from that camera

Post 32

Yes, in a way not being able to eat and drink at the tables is a plus - you get to meet more people in the kitchen and actually talk face to face with them !

I will search for this fridge next lan, clean it up, and fill it with iced coffee. (Real iced coffee).

Post 33

Battlefield 2 was great! Was hella fun at first but began to die down a bit at 12'ish. Anyhow! Blasting friends with T.V Rockets is hella fun! And Toasthall, was that you hugging mungus or doing whatever your doing to him in the paper? I don't wanna know what your doing... but was that you?

Post 34

yes it was toasthall and mungus getting friendly.

Post 35

it was a headlock! A HEADLOCK!

Post 36

Well there is no denying that Mungus is a sexy sexy man and I had no hesitation whatsoever complying with the reporter chick's request.

Post 37

Post 39

As the Mask said.....

Smokinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !

Battlefield 2 was a hit.. especially de Commander role... albeit it took me a while to get used to being de Commander, but luckily enough I got several games worth of pratcice (and somehow we won 95% of the time?).
Anyway time to get a decent video card....

The Venue was great too and was easy for me as I live 1.5 Km away.
I have to add the next time we see any kids mark our turf with graffiti though, I think we should grab em, tie them to a chair, pry their eyelids open with matchsticks and force them to watch Mungus and toasthall in action !

Post 49

Post 50

You know the link has an email address link there...

hehe

Post 51

I reckon that the next time you hold a DGA at the Chan Building maybe you should get a picture of the building so that everyone knows the Location and the Exact! building its being held in.

Most people who were going to the LAN found it hard to find out what building it was and also weren't sure of what building it was.

Post 52

If the next lan is there, there will be a map showing carparks, entrances and everything.. please understand we had such little notice that there was no time to do any of the usual good stuff.

Post 53

Hey guys, Ash here.
Was my first DGA lan. Im a melbourne lanner so my experience is a little different.
For starters, venue was great, just couldnt find the place. Not your fault though.
My only gripe is that no gaming was organised in any way, and there was no interaction between anyone... kinda weird.
People were either playing battlefield 2, or walking around with their thing in their hands.
Some people couldnt play battlefield cos of their crapz0r pc's, and there was no alternatives.
I hope no one minds if i write some suggestions for the next lan, so those others dont get left out and everything is a little more amped up.
Not trying to troll or anything, just some constructive critizism.
-Ash

Post 54

Usually theres a gametime table but the hype for BF2 being played @ the lan was pretty big so I assume thats why 1 wasnt organised for that lan.

There was one... but it dident really get pushed..
Through us running around trying to find another venue and stuff.. it kinda got put back in my things to do list..
sorry buys.. next time there will be one.. Promise :)
