Ok I need to know. I'm ****ed off right now and need to finally find a good pizza place. I'm tired of pizza hut, and I refuse to eat Domino's again after realising its made by 14 year olds who dont wear gloves. Screw that. I forget the name of that other popular one, but I dont like that one either. Please, oh gamers from beneath the surface, tell me of a good pizza place before I start killing.

Post 11

Hold on...isnt there an unspoken rule of the universe that states you may NOT add peas to a pizza? WTF!

Post 12

knight is not of this world. trust me.

Post 13

Outside of Japan, I believe you are correct...

The only problem with Pizza King involves some questionable pizza making procedures :P... but its pizza, and damn good pizza at that - so all is forgiven :P

Post 14

do I ask? :p

Post 15

Questionable? None of the meat is cat or anything right?

Post 16

if it's cat, it's damn good cat.

Post 17

Post 19

Well I've eaten it. Bloody huge. Not too bad, damn sight better then that crap at pizza hut or dominos. But I've been spoiled by that awesome woodfire pizza place in melbourne back inmarch. Nowhere else is as good. It makes me cry..

Post 20

Did someone say Pizza King? I heard a thousand Pizza King Specials sighing in the wind....Damn I miss Pizza King. :(

Post 21

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Pizza place in Fanny bay, right next to the cool spot. I'll be stuffed if I can remember the name, but they make some damn fine pizza's too. Not cheap either iam afraid.

Post 22

Super Pizza, Neo. They make good pizza to. Pizza King and Super Pizza all make awsome pizza's I misse them, Canberra sucks for pizza. :( ARPK just doesnt cut it.

Post 23

I remember that place. They're good. Just too far from casuarina area.

Post 24

When I say questionable I mean, just don't watch them as they cook it...
;)

Post 25

You mean its the same problem I have with Domino's? I noticed no gloves on them. And that didnt impress me!

Pizza King - Leanyer...

I don't think so. I heard many people insist they were the best in Darwin, and for a long time I believed, and recommended them. And then I actually tried some of their pizza. As someone who lived in Croatia, which is damn near where pizza's come from, and I often travelled to area's in Italy, where pizza DID come from... Maybe I've been spoiled, but there are far better pizza joints in Darwin then Pizza King.

For starters, they're oily, and not in the good way. I felt saturated in oil when I ate their pizza. It was soggy, and not cooked very well In all fairness though, they did have a good tomato paste, and the cheese wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. By far, the pizza from the saturating crap fact, scores a resounding negative point.
From what I've heard some people say, they've only recently gone this way, and I don't know, but I gave them a try more recently a few weeks ago, and was still upset with the saturation of oil in it.

Super pizza is okay, it's not oily, but it's a little bland in flavour, the tomato paste again is good, but not crash hot, which is the major point Pizza king has. They make good garlic bread though.

That italian joint in the City, where KFC was once in the past.
To me, just not a great, or exciting pizza. Good if you need to be filled, but has about as much flavour as an Eagle Boys pizza (if anybody remembers them).

Michellies Pizza, I believe to be the best you can get locally. They're cheaper then Pizza King, have more variety in the topings, and generally taste better as well. Plus, they have a few cute girls working there sometimes. ^_~

Post 27

thanks for your review. too bad it's flat out wrong.

Post 28

Some points were accurate. I feel saturated with Pizza King, the oil is incredible.

But the best Pizza I've ever had in Darwin was some Woodfired stuff that I don't remember the name of... far from takeaway though. So, Pizza King gets my vote.

The pizza at that place in the city next to Red Rooster is awful. Never heard of Michellies.

Post 29

Wood-fire pizzas > convection oven pizzas :)

Post 30

I agree about the oil, but I also ask where is this Michellies place?

Post 31

Michellies, is near Cafe Uno, Walk along, and you'll find it.

Noted, and promptly dismissed.

Post 32

i love pizza king we drive from palmerston to get it sometimes :P just sometimes you need to eat a pizza king pizza :|

Post 33

Agreed, I might fly up from Geelong to get one :p

Post 34

Demonic 14 year old Bogans make my Pizza?

Best "Wood fired" Pizza, in Darwin, is at some place on the Cullin Bay Marina.

Post 35

Super Pizza's actual pizzas arent that great but thier turnover thingys (whatever ever they are called) shit all over a pizza king pizza :)

Post 36

I agree with Hitokiri, Michellies is the best pizza ive had in Darwin (out of all places mentioned but Super Pizza).

Post 37

Mitchellis is an out and out ripoff. Their pizzas are tiny, overcooked, lack toppings, flair, flavour or cheese.

Seriously. If you live in the city, go to Super Pizza, in the suburbs to Pizza King. If you live in Palmerston ... well ... more fool you.

Quite possible you're thinking of Yachts.

You're joking yes?
I've found Michellies to have a far greater range of topings on their pizza, and generally have a more satisfying taste over all. Not to mention, they're cheaper then Pizza King too.
And if you like Vegitarian pizza, then they also offer topping such as Broccoli and Cauliflower. But I'm not, so I don't eat it.

I will make this point though, More doesn't mean Better.

Post 40

chuck norris once ate at pizza king. the fact that pizza king is still in business, and not dead at the hands of chuck is proof that pizza king is, in fact, the best pizza in darwin.

Post 41

that's right, Chuck would never roundhouse kick The King.

Post 42

In Palmerston, try the pizzas made by the Mediterranean restaurant - certainly a better option than the Eagle Boys and Dominos going around.

u-r-right

I have to agree with elprez on this one...

Mitchellies pizzas are a bit of a rip... you pay about 20 bucks for what I would consider a small pizza, where at Pizza King, you would prolly get enough to feed 2-3 people.

And also the extra large Pizza King pizzas are a joy to behold, you need to tilt them to get through most doors :P

(spero, they are called Calzone :))

Post 45

Chuck Norris came to darwin?!
That would explain the reported cases of emacculate conception and the cured cancer patients.

Post 46

ming court. trashcan pizza. curry base.

that is all.

Post 47

Omgzwtfbbq!

What the hell? Have I stumbled upon some sort of Chuck-Norris-worship-cult??

I hope to God you're a woman, Milenko. Such cock worship is not at all becoming of a young man. What next? Are we going to hear about the "lovely tingling sensation" you get in your mouth when Chuck shoots load after load of his manseed down your gullet? Something I'm sure he'd enjoy.

Post 48

Milenko can have my babies anytime.

Buy a wow trial account.
Create an orc or Tauren.
Spend 5 minutes in the Barrens.
For it is there, that the true worship of Chuck 'Round house kick you into next year' Norris resides.

Post 55

I got called a noob in MC the other day, so we're pretty close :P

but yeah, pizza king is good

Post 56

They still need to learn how to cook better and with less oil. Aside from that not bad.

And Chuck Norris is god. He was popular long before you WoW kiddies made a little plaque or whatever for him in your little game! Chuck Norris wouldnt bother playing WoW. He plays CS. And he doesnt come with a knife. He has a custom roundhouse kick, which also reaches as far as an AWP, with the punch of a BOMB going off!

WHAT??? The pizzas there are ****ing huge if you order the big ones and are easily the best pizzas in Darwin, with the possible exception of those turnover things at super pizza they shit on everything, cheers to P-air for taking me there if he still visits the boards anymore.

Post 62

Also they cost about 40-45 bucks for the huge ones..

which arent even as huge as the pizza king huge ones, which are 30 odd bucks

Post 63

PIZZA KING ams teh win :D

Post 64

I'm thinking about trying Pizza King for the first time tomorrow. When are they open (ie. lunch hours?) and can you order over the phone?

worth every cent...

Can we sacrafice him anyway :)
I am prepaired to pay homage to anyone.

Post 69

get yourself a job at domino's....make yourself a pizza anyway you like. and win at pizza making.

other than that pizza sucks.

Post 70

all this talk makes me want one of these pizza king pizzas, but as someone mentioned, it's the quality not quantity.

we have an equivalent down here, curtin snack bar, italian take away/snack bar, thickish base, lots of ham, lots of cheese, lots of mushrooms

but i'd much rather the thin home made base, quality black olives, field mushrooms, fetta, basil, stringy mozzarella!

Post 71

I've had pizza king once or twice they go totally overboard on oil. I dont really like eating things dripping with grease. They do use some nice meat though. I think I'll go try the other joints mentioned here.

Post 72

If you get a pizza king go in and order, ask for thin base and extra time in the oven eliminates all problems described above

Post 73

Friends of our family had their own Woodfire oven, for making pizzas.
The Husband wasnt a chef, he just REALLY liked cooking pizzas and hotdiggity were they amazing pizzas.
Like Hairytic said though, making a pizza for yourself (customized with extras usually :P) is the way to go :)

Post 74

Pizza King is the place to go when im at a LAN with mates or got a big weekend of gaming.

I suggest it to many ppl because they are big pizzas and quite a nice variety.
Now i still go to them because there up the road from me and price is good for what you get, however.....

Since they have had a bigger customer base the pizza's are getting quite blan and are soggy sometimes. I think this is because a big production line happening the quality has gone down a notch, still great but it has got me looking for alternative places.

I can tell because i have been ordering alot of pizzas from there for years.

Now i have heard of a new place on Sabine Rd where the shopping village is right next to McMillians Rd (old Volcano Pizza) - Not sure of name.

I have been told theres a great selection and the pizza's are to die for, im told.

So ill try em and give you my report.

Cheers

MOMO

Post 75

If you're going to Sabine Road, go to Bruce's Charcoal Chicken.
I need say no more.

Post 76

No more to be said, Portugese chiken hell YES!!!

Post 77

super pizza all the way and seadogs in cullen dont do a bad job either.

Post 78

Do Seadogs have the wood fired oven?

Lizard Men don't eat Pizza!!!

Post 80

do they have lizard man topping?

Post 82

You heard him.

Lizard man toppings

You know, The toppings, of the lizard men..

Chuck Norris eats them

Post 83

One can only assume that because Chuck Norris eats them that they are, in fact, babies.

Post 84

Seadogs is pretty average for Pizzas. I've eaten there quite a bit. The Calzone is beautiful though.

Post 85

Just had Mitchelli's tonight...

Not great but good, definitely not the best in Darwin. The Woodfire one (its mobile, only ever seen it at the Darwin Festival in the Botanic Gardens - if anyone knows the name, please tell me! :P) is still the best.

Post 86

Has anyone heard of a place called Christo's pizza or something like that in the suburbs? My sister claims its good, and thanks to my memory I've forgotten exactly where they are and what their proper name is. First name was definately Christo's.

Post 87

ITS BEEN 3 YEARS! I'm bumping as I'm curious about howplaces like pizza king are at the moment or if theres any new good ones that do delivery. I'm starving for a pizza and gotten bored of Eagle Boys. They're great, but I want to try something new. Last I heard pizza king changed owners or whatever?

Post 88

So the french guy with the moustache isn't there anymore (Pizza King)?

Post 89

Damn, talk about your necrothreads. I have to say that it was good reading some classic El Presidente zingers, though.

I think pizza-eaters in the thread fell into two camps.

The first camp is "give me the barnyard", where the pizza should be wide and piled high with ingredients and cheese. Pizza King was the undisputed master of this genre, but I haven't had any in years since moving to Perth *sniff*

The second camp talks about fluffy pizzas and authenticity and yadda yadda christ those pizzas are expensive. Apparently Mitchellis were the king of this. For the price I think there is better fine dining to be had in Darwin.

In conclusion, I miss living in Darwin.

Post 90

Well I got me a large meat lovers. Was pretty good. The base was a bit thin but I think thats my fault since I didnt specify. Just figured it would of been pan by default. Asked them to cook it extra so the edges were a little burnt but I think that made the flavour more nummy. I give it thumbs up.

They also dont do garlic bread anymore. My brain struggled with that for a bit. No garlic bread with pizza. Its almost like you're obligated to have garlic bread when you get pizza.

Post 91

Quote from El Presidente;366833:

Scarborough Beach Pizza is the closest thing in Perth to Pizza King.
They are open until 3am.

Post 92

in order of preference
EAT A PIZZA: across the road from uncle sams, calzones too, good size and price, and a variety of toppings (I find the chicken pizza a little bland)

Michellies: On mitchel st nice but crazy expensive

pizza mobile: I like it but to huge on gourmet pizzas, and for who ever was wondering is usually at one of the boat clubs dont remember which

King pizza: not a big fan way oily and too much flavourless cheese

fanny bay: Dont really remember so last

Post 93

no mere mortal could double post 3 years apart

Post 94

pizza king - tuna pizza rocks
all other pizzas i get from nightcliff pizzaria - awesome pizzas
