acoustic guitar

Buy a nylon string classical guitar. They start at $50 for 3/4 size and go up to $200 for beginner instruments. The have a wide flat fretboard so it is easy to hit individual strings and facilitates proper hand position and technique, nylon strings that don't cut up your fingers as much as steel strings do (this is …

Cannonball Run For The Nt!

Quote from Milenko: How many people have died during the Cannonball run, since its inception? Not many I'd think, compared with other motorsports/sports. Bring it back, it was an awesome event :) Actually: 1 race, 4 dead. Nice ratio. 150~ entrants, 4 dead As said combining the average road user with speed freaks is …

WTB: Weights

I haven't seen too many bars or weights at the dump shop but benches, all-in-one type gear and racks are there. Kinda hard to find them but if you walk straight in to the shop and go right up to the back fence there is a trail going right with gear strewn along both sides. About 50m down the path is all the gym gear.

WTB: Weights

Weights cost between $2-$3 per kg. Bars are expensive $50+ for budget gear. If you want a bench or anything I recommend going and having a look at the shoal bay dump shop. Lots of benches and gear there at dirt cheap prices.

Fuel on the rise again.

Just for interest. News services are running stories speculating that should the United States try to exert pressure militarily over Iran on the nuclear issue that they will pull the oil card and lobby OPEC to do the same. NPR commentators actually said that if Iran attempts to lobby OPEC nations and they reject the…

Welfare reform?

Ok then, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_(epithet) That was the intended usage. Like when little Pres says loonie lefty etc I like to use Far Right Fascist. Strictly incorrect yes, but I'm sure most understand the desired imagery. I think you constrict the debate to a narrow perspective in terms of the redistri…

Welfare reform?

Quote from El Presidente: This is a false dichotomy. It's not "either-or", it's "and". But whereas people of most quarters and creeds understand religious toleration or security of the person from assault, oppression etc (incidentally, these ideas were invented/discovered by liberals), only "free market fascists" un…

Welfare reform?

One question. Why is it incumbent on governments to protect "contractual arrangements" and not human rights, religious beliefs etc? Seems to me that most free market facists seem to think that governments sole responsibility is to protect their little wealth pile. Whereas others believe that government is just a man…

Australia advertises Police-State model to world

I quite enjoy ZPC's rants, they are usually slightly out there but convincing arguments are brought forward in support. On the other hand, the mind-numbing drivel that is posted above appears to really just be personal insults.

Getting Pre-Rendered Web Code

Unless you have access to the web server no. Your best bet would be to check that the coders input validation routines are strong and try to end the script with ?> tags or alike. Of course if you own the server just use .phps extensions.

9/11 conspiracy

Blind faith in any form of Government is dangerous. Whilst I don't subscribe to the 9/11 theories, the principle of question govt's and their motives is valid. Read up on South American history over the last 50 years though and the kind of theories about 9/11 are slightly more plausible.

Internet Explorer

Gee whizz! Tabbed browsing! Inbuilt search! Someone better do a feature request over at the mozilla project! Oh wait....

Venues

Tracy Village have a hall that they hire out. The various ethnic clubs are also great places, check out the Timorese club. Personally I think that club is one of Darwins best kept secrets.

Moving Computers Interstate

Use cope as said above. Reasonable price + specialists in sensitive freight. No brainer really.

Swedish Pirates

Whilst I sure the initial post was purely for educational purposes, there is some validity behind the agendas of such "pirates". Copyright and patent growth especially when linked with FTA's is quickly fencing in our ability for technological growth. Go the Pirates! YARRR!
