  • Chaser's Andrew Hansen reviews Duke Nukem Forever on Good Game

ABC Good Game logoIf it wasn't cool enough that Andrew Hansen (The Chaser's War on Everything) was on ABC's Good Game, filling in for Hex while at E3, he had the pleasure of reviewing Duke Nukem Forever with regular host; Bajo. Taking on the persona of Bindi, Hansen scores DNF 8.5 out of 10 on PC, but 5.5 on the Xbox 360. Bajo also scores the game a handy 8.5 out of 10. Click through for the video and their remarks...

Bajo says "at first I found that lack of direction really frustrating, and it really bugged me. But then after a while I started to find that a bit refreshing, you know. You're not being funneled down this linear pipe of narrow game design, you have a little bit of room to move and explore. And I think that kinda helped the pace of the game as well."

He continued to explain that "All the classic Duke Nukem weapons here and they all feel right. The combat on the whole just that pitch perfect feel, dodging slow missiles and aiming for that perfect pipebomb placement."

Hansen notes that "I liked some of the jumping puzzles, the pushing puzzles - there's a bit of platforming. It gives you a bit of a break from the pig shattering" to which Bajo replied "how good is it fighting pigs again!"

"I had a great time here, Bindi. It just took me back to my childhood" says Bajo, to which which Hansen replies "It took me back to when I was about 29."

Heh yeah there's two types of people for DNF. Those who remember platformers, good old Duke (and the pop culture references), and the COD tards. Opinions being quite polarised depending on what side you're on.

I wonder if they got the actual voice-over guy to do those sound bites for the show.

Sounds like they did indeed. Earlier in the show they did an interview with Randy Pitchford, so it's likely.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
