ID:	602210 Update: users already playing on 'fixed' servers are claiming the network lag has been resolved, but the intermittent stutters and freezes remain. We'll continue to monitor feedback and report back as soon as we know more.

Getting any real information out of anyone regarding the Call of Duty: Black Ops lag issues plaguing players has been like squeezing blood out of stone. Twitter updates and blog posts from various representatives have been non-committal, vague or entirely ignorant to the problems many PC gamers are experiencing. Finally though, we have some real news. It's not much, but it's something.

Natasha Brack, PR Manager at Activision in Australia has been in touch, dropping us a one-liner stating "we are working on this and will have an update shortly." No details of a patch or fix were given, nor a timeframe for the resolution. Let's hope the lack of a public official announcement on the matter means they all are indeed very hard at work getting these problems rectified as soon as possible.

More excitingly, following Gameservers.com statement yesterday on the same topic, they've disclosed information of a server-side update which is rolling out now and will continue to do so over the next few hours. Zachary Williams tells customers that "We are in the process of rolling out an update to the black ops server configuration. This will be automatic. After testing, we have found that our update will significantly improve performance on all servers." Fingers crossed - be sure to let us know your experiences with multiplayer once this is live.

JD_2020, Treyarch's communtiy manager, has also chimed in on the official Call of Duty forums with some news on the topic, reassuring us that they "are listening and have been working on updates."

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
