ID:	597010Development studio of the just-announced Syndicate reboot, Starbreeze, says "it was always going to be an FPS." Game director Neil McEwan told OXM the re-imagining of the world was inspired by what the the 1993 classic would look like in first-person; "the original nub of the idea was to take that viewpoint from the original game and zoom into the Agent's head, and play that part. A closer experience - to become one of those Agents."

"We're big fans of the original Syndicate, and we're definitely paying as much homage to it as we can - bringing across the essence of the world, the core essence of what it is to be an Agent," he added. "That sounds wanky but it's true - we're taking the Persuadatron and evolving it in different ways, the weapons and brutality. On both facets of the game, the co-op and the single player, it's very key to stay true to it.

"We've been very lucky to work with a great, original world, and create another facet of it really. I would love them [fans of the original] to like it. You're never going to please everyone."

Additionally, it was revealed in PSM3 that "a body" of Bullfrog veterans are among those working on the resurrection of the classic.

not by making it an FPS you aren't.

saw a comment on slashdot about this which seemed bang on - something along the lines of:

This game comes from an IP in the early 90s and is being aimed at an audience who probably never played the original, so why make it an FPS rather than just using a new IP?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
