You may have noticed a few Battlefield 3 beta servers out there running Caspian Border, the map featured in DICE's multiplayer gameplay video with jets and tanks. Despite those servers being locked, passwords have been leaked and a ton of footage uploaded to YouTube. Battlefield Community Manager, Daniel 'zh1nt0' Matros, says "it is only for internal testing at the moment."
"So please, if you are participating in the testing, please don't post any footage and please don't spread the password" he continued to write. "Passwords are being given out to selected community members, sites and clans to help us evaluate the feedback we are getting as well as making sure that the map is continiously being tested."
The passwords are being changed regularly, and he threatens that "If we can't keep this in an organized fashion, I won't be able to include the community into more cool stuff in the future."
Of course, the smart money is that his angst is faux. It's entirely unrealistic to expect people won't give the password to their friends or post footage - and DICE know that. The exercise seems one with the intent of limiting access to build anticipation and generate as much chatter and interest in the beta as possible. It's working.
Here's a select couple user-posted videos for you to stare enviously at for the next 30 minutes. With any luck they'll release Caspian Border to all beta participants before October 10.

by recCounter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

by recI've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....

by recWho here is looking forward to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? Considering that this community's roots were founded in the early betas of Counter-Strike, I'd hope at least a few of you still have an interest! The next lot of CS:GO beta keys will be given away based on the results of a new Steam survey and participant selections will be made over coming months. "Sometimes we might add experienced players, other times new players. Sometimes 1.6 players, sometimes CSS players, sometimes people who ...
