  • The Humble Indie Bundle #4

The 4th Humble Indie Bundle has just hit the nets. The latest offering has a staggering array of Steam-enabled goodies attached:
    • Jamestown - an over-the-top arcade shooter with co-op support.
    • Bit. Trip Runner - a music platformer
    • Super Meat Boy - an insane platformer
    • Shank - a stylised 2d brawler/platformer
    • Nightsky - a physics platformer

And if you beat the average price (currently $5.16 USD as of this writing) you'll also receive:
    • Cave Story+ - a Metroid-esque platformer
    • Gratuitous Space Battles - a neat little 2D top-down space battle game.

As always, I recommend paying more than the average, you never know when they'll throw more extras at you. The current bundle lasts 14 days from now and can be purchased from www.humblebundle.com.

[update:21-12-2011] As expected, the bundle has been updated to add 5 new games - the contents of Humble Bundle 3.
    • Crayon Physics Deluxe - drawing-based physics game
    • Cogs - slide puzzle game
    • VVVVVVVVVVVVV - platformer similar to Shift on mobile devices
    • Hammerfight - I own this game and i still have NFI what it is
    • And Yet It Moves - platformer that lets you adjust the direction of gravity

These games will become available to you if you spent more than the average.

On a related note, forum member mepm mentioned the Indie Royale bundle now has a Christmas edition up. Like the Humble Bundles, the Indie Royale games also have Steam keys attached (for the most part), and the current offering here includes:
    • The Blackwell Trilogy (remastered) - This is an indie point-and-click adventure series
    • Eets - the acclaimed puzzle platformer from the creators of Shank (currently in the Humble Bundle)
    • Dino D-Day - seriously, dinosaurs and nazis. We don't even need to know if it's good do we?!
    • The Oil Blue - this is a management game where you need to look after your oil drilling company, sinking new wells and organising for the sale of your output.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
