  • DiRT 3 debut trailer explodes out of the X Games

Codemasters haven't been shy about hyping DiRT 3; they assure us it's going to blow your freaking minds. And if the benchmarks that the first two set are anything to go by, I believe them. The third in the series has just been teased for the very first time on ESPN's X Games coverage a few hours ago, so here it is for you to check out.

Bought this last night and have played a fair bit.

Unfortunately it doesn't deliver in the graphics department. I personally think it looks worse than Dirt2.

The game is filled with cut scenes and explanations of every event, that are impossible to skip. It literally feels like you spend 2 - 3 minutes watching a video and explanation, to race a 1.5 minute rally stage. It does this on every single season start, season finish and new event. It's frustrating as fuck.

There's still no option to save replays; however it does allow you to directly upload a stage you've just raced to YouTube. Some are calling that feature great. Personally I don't give a fuck about YouTube and would rather save the replay locally to watch another time (like the time I was .6 of a second off a world record in Dirt2).

They seem to have backed off on the Surfer-boy talk (sick race bro!); but it is still there in a diluted form.

New additions to the game like Gymkhana are pretty neat - but feel a little out of place. My personal hope was they would focus more on Rally stages and less on trophy truck races etc. unfortunately that was dashed as well, as there's just as much of it, with Gymkhana to boot.

The Career mode is more linear than Dirt2. You don't have as much freedom with chosing which event / location you want to race next.

All in all; very disappointed with it.
I'd recommend it's predecessor instead - as it feels much more polished and enjoyable.

      Meh.
