More unofficial confirmations of Xbox 720, PlayStation 4

There has been a truckload of chatter regarding the next generation of console reveals and releases recently, and now there's a little more. BGR are reporting that an undisclosed source within Microsoft has confirmed that they plan to unveil their next-gen Xbox console at E3 2012, as previously rumoured. Meanwhile, analyst Michael Patcher predicts a date for the PlayStation 4, saying "it's unlikely" that we'll see the PS4 in 2012, but that he is "sticking to 2014, so an 'unveil' in 2013."

While only driven by rumour and unconfirmed information, it's becoming a near certainty that we'll see Microsoft's next Xbox revealed at E3 2012. Sony's next PlayStation on the other hand, while we really just don't have much of an idea, will surely be close behind. While details are scarce at this point, and will probably remain that way for some time, a safe bet would be anticipating new console hardware from all manufacturers on the market by Christmas 2014.
