Good news everyone! Blizzard had originally planned to lock Australian StarCraft II players to the Southeast Asian servers, making it impossible to play with a larger English speaking community on North American servers. Recently however, they announced via the game's official Facebook page that they won't be region-locking Australian players to Southeast Asian servers after all.
While going back on their decision, Australian players won't be able to play on North American servers immediately after launch, but will be allowed to do so within 60 days of it. Access to European and Korean servers will still be restricted.
Unfortunately though, it won't be as simple as 'switching' servers. Players will be required to download the North American StarCraft II client to change the region, and we should also note that players stats are dependent on region, so these won't carry over when players switch between the different servers.

#8rec commented26-07-10, 04:41 PMEditing a commentGame Informer have a 3 page spread on Blizzard's move to introduce the Southeast Asia server farm, if anyone's interested. I'm not sure if it's on stores yet, but if you're heading down to EB Games for the StarCraft II launch you may find it there.

by recCounter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

by recI've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....

by recWho here is looking forward to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? Considering that this community's roots were founded in the early betas of Counter-Strike, I'd hope at least a few of you still have an interest!
