Counter-Strike: Global Offensive cross-platform play excludes Xbox 360
Less than a week ago we reported on the possibility of the recently announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive enabling cross-platform play between consoles and PC. Kotaku has now published a hands-on article stating that it's a feature of the game and hadn't suggested there was any doubt of its implementation. Unfortunately for Xbox 360 players, they'll be excluded due to its lack of Steam integration and inability to use anything except the Xbox 360 controller. PS3, Mac and PC players will be mat... -

Our first look at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Courtesy of IGN is our first look at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Embedded you will find three gameplay videos with about five minutes of footage to gawk at, paired with some informative commentary about the development and features. Map changes, weapon additions and a visual face-lift are all showcased. Unfortunately the face-lift is a mixed bag of mess. While the aesthetic presentation of maps look far better than any previous Counter-Strike, the animations aren't much of an improvement... -

GameStop stealing boxed Deus Ex extras from customers
In a GameSpy exclusive it has been revealed that GameStop has instructed staff to open all boxes of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and remove the bundled OnLive codes prior to sale, valued at USD $49.99. This OnLive code is essentially a free digital copy of the game, letting customers add the title to an OnLive account. Announced in 2009 and launched in 2010, OnLive is a cloud computing games service, where the game is stored and rendered on remote servers, then synchronised and streamed to your scr... -

Aliens: Colonial Marines action trailer arrives for ultimate badasses
Gearbox have released a new Aliens: Colonial Marines trailer showcasing a heap of, as the trailer title suggests, action! It's a must watch. Re-announced just last month at E3, the game isn't out until "sometime next year" but it sounds like it will be worth the wait; Gearbox's Randy Pitchford says it's "holy f***" good.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution launch trailer
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is 13 hours away from unlock on the Australian Steam store. That's why you should fire up a US VPN and play it right now, as it's already out in the USA and playable if Steam sees that you're on a US IP. While you contemplating that, check out the embedded launch trailer.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to allow cross-platform multiplayer?
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was revealed just over a week ago, as was a slew of opinions from professional gamers who have been testing the forthcoming shooter. PCGames.de recently had a word with Valve CEO, Gabe Newell, and popped an interesting question; is cross-platform play a possibility? "That's certainly our goal. We never want to create these islands of players. Our view is players should be able to play as part of a community on whatever device they can," Gabe responded. He followed... -

CryEngine modders, start your, err, engines!
As of right now, CryEngine 3's SDK (software development kit) is completely free for non-commercial use. Free is always good, especially when it's sure to lead to some brilliant user created projects, which will also have to be free. Crytek is of course hoping to secure a slew of new enthusiastic and CryEngine endorsing developers with the release, and they undoubtedly will. "The award winning SDK provides the complete game engine to create AAA quality next generation games for PC, and include... -

Skyrim confirmed to be a Steamworks game
For those who love Steam you'll sure to love the news that Skyrim is Steamworks integrated. For those that don't, well, too bad I guess. Bethesda's Pete Hines has confirmed to PC Gamer that Skyrim will use Steam, not GFWL (Games for Windows LIVE) as previously rumoured. This confirmation was then syndicated on the official @ElderScrolls Twitter account.

by recCounter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

by recI've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....

by recWho here is looking forward to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? Considering that this community's roots were founded in the early betas of Counter-Strike, I'd hope at least a few of you still have an interest!
