Battlefield 3 not coming to Steam

We recently broke the news about EA's announced retailer list for Battlefield 3, noting Steam's absence. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be a mistake. A financial research firm named Baird is said to have held a meeting with GameStop management recently, confirming the absence of Battlefield 3 on Steam in their report. "The upcoming EA title Battlefield 3 will be sold as a download through GameStop, but not through Steam," it read. Heartbreaking, quite frankly. Instead, you can pre-order a boxed cop...

For those of you looking to pre-order Deus Ex: Human Revolution without getting Steam region gouged, you can do so at Green Man Gaming using a limited-time promo code during checkout. It scores you the anticipated Deux Ex sequel for just $27, and because it's a Steamworks game, the key plugs directly into Steam as if you had bought it from Steam itself. That's a handy saving with it priced at $78 at EB Games, $63 at Steam's Australian store, or even $45 at Steam's USA store. The code is GETYO-UR...

StarCraft II regions to be linked

The official StarCraft II blog has revealed that we can soon expect regions to be linked. It is highlighted that by doing so we'll see larger pools of players, resulting in improved match-making performance. More players of course means more potential matches, and that means less waiting. Your Battle.net friends list will also be cross-region. For more information, check out the official FAQ....

  • CS:GO gets a substantial content update
    by rec
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
